Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the most awaited sequel of the 2012 title, Dragon’s Dogma. Indeed Capcom took more than a decade to bring the sequel, but the wait is worth what fans have received. The game features a vast open world which becomes accessible to players from the very moment they jump into the game, but this world is full of mysteries and dangers that players need to deal with carefully. For this, sometimes they need to change their Vocation as well.

Vocation is the other name for character class. In action RPGs, character classes play a key role as they help players experience different combat styles, abilities, weapons, etc. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is no exception. The game features different vocations with different abilities and skills. Specific enemies are weak to specific Vocation. Therefore, naturally, players must know the process of changing Vocation. In this guide we will try to give you all the required information about changing Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2- Vocation Changing Process Explained

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a total of ten Vocations to choose from in the game. However, not all of them are unlocked by default. Four among them are starting vocations. These include, Mage, Thief, Archer, and Fighter. Apart from them, if players want to switch to Warrior, Sorcerer, Warfarer, Trickster, Magick Archer, and Mystic Spearhand they need to unlock these vocations as they progress through the story.

The more you progress through the story of the game, you will realize, different situations require different vocations. In fact, you may not find your starting vocation suitable after you have made some progress. In that case, switching to a more suitable one is the only option, but the process is not easy. It comes with a cost.

Interacting with the NPC at Vocation Guild

To change vocation, players need to go to a Vocation Guild. This is a camp kind of facility and spread across the entire map. Players will find the very first one at the early stages of the game when they reach Vernworth. Apart from that, certain inns also provide the option to change vocation.

Once you arrive at a Vocation Guild, talk to the person behind the desk. For example, if you have arrived at the Vernworth Vocation Guild, the NPC you find behind the desk is Klaus. Start interesting with him, and this interaction will give you two options to choose from: Change Vocation and Acquire/Equip Skills. As you are here to change your vocation, select the first one and you will immediately be taken to the respec menu. Well, selecting the second option will take you to the same menu, anyway. This respec manu will give you the option to switch to a new vocation, weapon skills, etc., for your Arisen and Pawn characters.

However, remember that, switching to a new vocation requires you to unlock the vocation and this unlocking process requires you to spend a certain amount of Discipline Points every time. When you go to the Change Vocation menu, you will see the vocations that you have already unlocked. If you want to switch to a specific one, you need to unlock it by spending Discipline Points. Once a vocation is unlocked, players can then switch between these as many times as they want.

Now that players are aware of the process of changing vocations, one thing that may seem confusing to them is what Discipline Points are and how to get them in the game.

In action RPGs, in-game currencies are a common concept. Most games feature more than one in-game currency and Dragon’s Dogma 2 is among them. Discipline Points are a special in-game currency in the game that players can use in the Vocation Guilds to acquire new vocations, core skills, and upgrade their weapon skills, vocation level, etc.

If you are unaware of the gathering process, let me tell you, Discipline Points can be acquired by completing side quests and defeating enemies. Therefore, if you are willing to upgrade your vocation level or weapon skills, we recommend not to skip side quests, no matter how boring they seem.

Here’s something important to understand about the Discipline Points. These points are shared between your Arisen and Pawn characters. The total amount of Discipline Points can be found at the top right corner of the respec menu. This total is for both your Arisen and Pawn Characters. So be mindful while spending these points. If you spend a lot for your Arisen, your Pawns won’t get anything. Fortunately, the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 has numerous enemies to defeat. So, technically, players should not get short on DCP. If you are trying to unlock primary Vocations, it will take 100 DCP, but for advanced Vocations, players need to spend 150 DCP.

How to Change Weapon Skills and Augments in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Once you visit the Vocation Guild, it is always better to make your Arisen and Pawn character stronger by unlocking new skills and Augments for them. To change Weapons Skills, players need to interact with the NPC at the counter and choose Acquire/Equip Skills. This will take you to the respec menu where you will see different skills to unlock for DCP. For example, if you want to get Sweep Shot, you have to spend 200 DCP. Similarly, Ignited Blades skill requires 1000 DCP to be acquired. Spend the required amount of DCP and acquire the skill you want.

At the same point, this menu also allows you to assign the skill to a button. For the PlayStation players, these buttons include, Square, Circle, Triangle, and X of the controller. Therefore, players can’t have more than four skills equipped at a point.

Coming to the Augments section of the respec menu  players will find that the process to acquire new Augments is the same. However, the only thing that differs in the Augment section is that Augments never change based on your vocation. If you have unlocked an augment specific to the Thief vocation, even after you switch to the Warrior or any other vocation, you can still use that Augment. At a time, players can equip six augments.

That’s everything players need to know about changing vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Make sure to change your vocation from time to time, so you don’t miss any experience.
