Since Ubisoft released the official trailer of Skull and Bones, players got excited about the game and are eagerly waiting to experience the gameplay. The official release is still a bit away but the open beta is now available to enjoy for free, until February 12th, 2024. In this game, players become pirates and enjoy the life of a pirate. However, before you start the game, the game will ask you to create your character. Though you can create your character at that point, you can’t really customize it with proper clothes and appearance. But the customization feature is available in the game, which unlocks a little later after you start the journey.

So, if you are trying to figure out how to change character appearance in Skull and Bones, this guide will help you with all the required information.

Change Character Appearance in Skull and Bones

Customization is one of the most favorite features in the action-adventure games and it is gaining popularity day by day as the games provide them with attractive clothes and accessories to equip. Of course, Ubisoft didn’t disappoint players in this feature and added clothes for their pirates. Initially, players start with torn clothes, but that’s not the ultimate thing. There are ways to get attractive pirate clothes.

Vanity Atelier Shop

The ability to get new clothes unlocks after players gain access to the Vanity Atelier shop in Sainte-Anne. This is not a default location where you can sail at the beginning. Fortunately, this won’t take too long to access. The required information about reaching Sainte-Anne will be found after you complete the first quest and get the crowbar.

Once you get the information to reach the location, players can easily make their way to the island and unlock the shop to change their outfits. So, the first thing you need to know is how to get a crowbar.

Crowbar in Skull and Bones

Once you jump into the game, you will eventually, encounter a shipwreck and sail to the first location of the game, West Island. Here, they meet a new pirate group and most importantly, their Pirate Captain.

This NPC won’t be too happy to see you, but he will give you the very first quest of the game, A Pirate’s Deal. This quest requires you to go to the north of the Exeter shipwreck and find the contrabands required for the quest. Once you complete the quest, you will get a Crowbar that players can use to break the locked section of another shipwreck they encountered before. Use the crowbar to break it, and you will get the information about accessing Sainte-Anne.

Unlock Vanity Atelier Shop in Skull and Bones

Once you reach Sainte-Anne, you will receive a quest that requires you to complete a main quest called ‘Appointment with Power.’ In this quest, players need to deliver a letter and report Exeter’s Fate to an NPC named John Scurlock. While doing this mission, open your map and you will see a mirror icon on it. This is where you will find Vanity Atelier Shop.

You can go to the shop before you complete the quest, but that won’t work. The NPC in the shop won’t talk to you unless you complete the Appointment with Power quest. Therefore, players need to go to the NPC named Scurlock and complete the quest. Now, you can access the shop and interact with Vanity Atelier about changing your clothes.

Once you unlock the shop and interact with the NPC, you will get the ‘Change Physical Appearance’ option. Choose it and you will see the clothes and other cosmetic items the NPC sells. The shop has outfits (hats, shirts, belts, etc.) and emotes to give your pirate character a different appearance, but here you should note that these items can’t be found for free. Players need to have in-game currencies to purchase them.

Change Appearance in Skull and Bones

Skull and Bones have different in-game currencies like silver coins or gold coins and different items require different in-game currencies. Now, at this initial stage, you probably got confused about getting coins. Don’t worry, these are nothing complicated to get. Instead, players need to complete contracts to earn coins. Even sometimes you will receive outfits as contract rewards. Once you get enough coins, you can visit the shop and choose the item you want to equip.

That’s everything we know about changing character appearance in Skull and Bones. The process is not complicated and unlocks pretty early in the game. Once you unlock the Vanity Atelier shop in Sainte-Anne, you will unlock this shop throughout the map. Now, you will get a Vanity Atelier shop at every den. So, you don’t need to come back to Sainte-Anne again and again to customize your character.
