Horizon Zero Dawn PC Remaster Pulls the Rug From Beneath Gamers’ Feet With PSN Account Controversy Set to Loom Again

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Requires a PSN Account to Be Played on PC
Sony’s requirement for a PlayStation Network account to access games once again came to the spotlight with the update that Horizon Zero Dawn PC players need to fulfil this criteria if they want to access the remastered version of the game.
Horizon Zero Dawn getting a remaster was in the air for a while before the last State of Play happened. When the remastered version was confirmed, players were frustrated seeing it instead of Bloodborne. Still, they accepted it to some extent, but again, the vexation was triggered because of the requirement of a PSN account.
Sony has delisted the original Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam and the Epic Games Store to kind of impose the PSN requirement on the upcoming game. Players have noticed that despite the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition Steam page still being live, the game can’t be purchased anymore. Notably, this was done without any prior notification.
If you still haven’t gotten the situation, it’s like, you can’t ignore the PSN account requirement by purchasing the original PC release because Sony has withdrawn it from both Epic Games and Steam.

Sony has made the PSN account mandatory for a lot of its games. This list includes renowned titles like Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, Helldivers 2, and God of War Ragnarok. However, the backlash was quick and huge when it was imposed on Helldivers 2.
Players were so frustrated that the Steam page of the game received numerous negative reviews. This aggressive protest created a strong impact, and Sony finally removed this requirement from Arrowhead’s shooter game.
However, even after that, Helldivers 2 is still unavailable in many countries that lack PSN. If this case is the same with Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, this upcoming game will also become inaccessible in more than a hundred countries across the world.
Importantly, Sony’s persistent PSN account requirement clearly shows it is not ready to give up on this criteria even after facing huge negative responses from gamers just a few months back.
