Hideo Kojima Set to Earn Credit on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in Surprise Announcement From Konami
Konami and Hideo Kojima seems to resolve their issues. Let's see the initiative, the game developer company has taken.
Meta Gear and Hideo Kojima are almost inseparable. This renowned Japanese video game designer has worked on multiple successful gaming series, but the one he has been integrally attached to is the Metal Gear series by Konami, continuing since 1987. However, this bond broke recently when Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was announced, but once again, Konami proved the bond between Kojima and Meta Gear is unbreakable.
Metal Gear is undoubtedly one of the best stealth series by Konami that reached its peak holding the hands of Kojima. However, even after his 61-year-old game designer left the company, Konami is ready to admit his contribution to one of the most successful series. A recent update sheds some light on this topic.
Noriaki Okamura Expressed Surprising Thoughts on Giving Credits to Hideo Kojima
On Friday, during a Japanese livestream called METAL GEAR – PRODUCTION HOTLINE, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura was asked whether there’s any chance for the original team members of Meta Gear to return to the development of the new installments of the series. Initially, Okamura hesitated a little bit and said it was not suitable for him to talk on behalf of someone outside the organization.
Kojima left Konami in 2015, and since then, he has spoken about the Metal Gear series a lot of times, but he had no control over it. When the official announcement of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater arrived in 2023, it was mentioned that the Japanese designer was not a part of this game development team.

However, the ice between the organization and the game designer seems to have broken, as in his latest interview, Okamura expressed that they are going to credit Kojima and all other members for their original roles. He said,
“Since we have a lot of questions about this, Mr. Kojima and all the other development staff are of course credited for their original roles. They are already included in the Master Collection, and they will be listed in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater as well. They’re a part of these games too, so absolutely, they’re in.”
In this same livestream, the Konami producer has shared one of his dream moments that he wishes he would get back.
After Years, Konami and Hideo Kojima Seem to Consider Rebuilding Their Relationship in the Future
Talking about Metal Gear, obviously, bring Hideo Kojima. Therefore, on Friday, the host of the live stream asked about the original staff of the game, which directly hinted at Kojima. The current producer of the game didn’t miss the hint. After his initial hesitation, he openly talked about everything, especially his dream to work with Kojima again.
Okamura was part of the original Metal Gear team and had worked with them for a long time. So talking about them, he didn’t hide his thoughts about working with that team, including Kojima. He expressed,
“Just speaking for myself personally, I’d like nothing better than to work with Mr. Kojima and the rest of the team again. If that could happen, that would be the dream.”
However, he further progressed with his speech, saying that people have moved on and have new commitments. So, they can’t expect everyone to return to work with them, and Komani shouldn’t make this kind of demand. This reality must be accepted, and they should go forward and try to make good games by themselves.
Whether the collaboration between Konami and Kojima will happen in the future is still a question, without any exact answer.
