Helldivers 2 on Steam has recently been the center of a storm. With the platform requiring a mandatory sign-in on a Sony PlayStation Network (PSN) account for cross-platform multiplayer, many players have raised their voices against Arrowhead Studios, the makers of the game.

Being caught between a loyal player base and one of the gaming industry’s giants is not easy. The studio, however, has not let the controversy dissuade its team from bringing the best they can do for Helldivers 2 – and those who swear by its addictive gameplay.

Helldivers 2’s latest Warbond brings a lot to the table.

The Polar Patriots Warbond is welcome news, not just for Helldivers 2 players, but for Arrowhead Studios as well. At a time when the company needs to put its best foot forward for its customers, this Warbond is sure to earn back some of the goodwill Arrowhead lost due to the PSN controversy.

Bringing new primary secondary and secondary weapons, gear, equipment, capes, and of course, emotes, the new Warbond can give Helldivers 2 players new items to spend their hard-earned medals and Super Credits on.

The Polar Patriots Warbond can be purchased for 1,000 in-game Super Credits, or $9.99 on the Epic Games Store. With free and premium versions, it is sure to have something for everybody – keeping Helldivers 2 players coming back for more!

Suffering From Success?

Perhaps Sony needs to remember the dangers of friendly fire?

Helldivers 2 faced a lot of technical issues stemming from its incredible rise to fame upon its release. With servers unable to support the sudden surge in new players, the requirement for players to have a PSN account linked on Steam was temporarily disabled.

However, with the game firing on all cylinders, and the deadline for lifting the block on PSN linking fast approaching, many Helldivers 2 players on PC were left fuming at what they perceived was being forced to sign up on PSN – a network known for data breaches in the past.

Yet, the flip side of this coin is that the PSN account can actually help with maintaining fair-play standards across the board, and perhaps even help with redressals in the event of grievances. With cross-platform play in the mix for Helldivers 2, the PSN requirement is truly a double-edged sword for Arrowhead Studios.

But it looks like they are not letting obstacles get in the way of delivering new content to their players, and the Polar Patriots Warbond may highlight their dedication enough for players to stay on Super Earth.

Will the new Warbond be enough for Helldivers 2 to rise from the ashes of its recent slew of negative reviews? Only time will tell.
