Perhaps there was a reason why fate was not letting Helldivers 2 players get their hands on the Anti-Tank Mines, as Arrowhead Game Studios has been providing its community with multiple opportunities to secure the stratagem, but it always ended up getting sidelined. From alternatives with better potential to a hospital full of children, the player base has consistently been more inclined towards whatever the second option was instead of getting the Anti-Tank Mines added to their arsenal.

However, now that the developer has basically forced the stratagem on its fanbase, it seems like its addition was not exactly worth the long wait because of how little purpose its existence actually serves in the game.

The Anti-Tank Mines Have Finally Come to Helldivers 2, but Players Are Finding Them Useless

Perhaps the Helldivers 2 community was never meant to unlock a stratagem which is proving to be quite underwhelming.

The Helldivers 2 community constantly evading the stratagem’s inclusion in the game became somewhat of a meme among the players, but when Arrowhead Game Studios decided to join in the fun and made its fanbase face unachievable circumstances, things became a lot less funnier.

SUGGESTED: Helldivers 2: Weapon Attachments Need to Make a Return After Being in Helldivers 1

To put the situation regarding the Anti-Tank Mines into more context, there have been three other instances before the latest Major Order that had the stratagem as a reward, but because players were not too enthusiastic about it in the first place, they never put in much effort to acquire it. This resulted in Arrowhead prompting the community to kill a huge number of enemies, with the added twist that upon failing the Major Order, the Anti-Tank Mines will automatically be unlocked for the players.

Naturally, despite its greatest efforts to keep avoiding the dreaded stratagem, the Helldivers 2 player base failed to complete the objective in time, leading to the Anti-Tank Mines finally making their way to the game. Unfortunately, the soldiers of Super Earth are finding the stratagem extremely “worthless,” as they already had some sort of idea regarding how useless it would prove to be during intense battles.

For starters, players are finding the Anti-Tank Mines to be quite powerless against the big enemies that they are supposed to be taking out, doing very little damage and making the community question what the point of their inclusion even is.

The Stratagem Fails to Live up to Its Name, Causing Chaos on the Battlefield

It is becoming increasingly hard for players to appreciate the existence of the stratagem.

Not being that effective against the tanks they are supposed to be doing damage to, as the name of the stratagem literally suggests, may have been forgivable to some extent, but the issue with the Anti-Tank Mines becomes more glaring when they get activated by even the regular enemies that are much smaller in size.

SUGGESTED: Helldivers 2’s Idea for a Community Pot Is Exactly What the Game Needs to Save It

In fact, players like the one above have reported that these mines have been set off even if the Helldivers themselves step on them, going as far as being activated by the soldiers’ corpses as well.

The third problem that the community seems to have with the stratagem is that once one goes off, the others in close vicinity also start to explode, causing chaos on the battlefield.

This is not the first time that Arrowhead Game Studios has made an addition to Helldivers 2 that has been deemed useless by the community, and it will likely not be the last, but during a time when the developer needs all the support it can get, listening to player feedback might have to be prioritized.
