Helldivers 2 Players Regret All the Changes Resulting in Lost Mission Type
A discarded mission type in Helldivers 2 could be a perfect way for Arrowhead to address a few complaints and breathe new life into the game.
- As Arrowhead undertakes the task of addressing a long list of complaints from Helldivers 2 players, an old mission type could be a great chance for the studio.
- Retrieving Essential Personnel was an exciting mission type that was marred by its poor execution and balancing.
- Arrowhead's efforts would be bolstered if it were to reintroduce the mission, considering how it is fondly remembered among its players.
Helldivers 2 has been an eye opening third-person shooter for many reasons since its release. With an engaging premise and a wide array of exciting weapons to use on its many enemies while embarking on frenetic missions, its rise to prominence has been overshadowed only by its inability to retain a very loyal player base.
Although Arrowhead has taken on the herculean task of attempting to address the many complaints its players have with the game, it seems that its effort could use a little more help from gamers whose inputs might just be what Helldivers 2 needs to go back to its winning ways.
An Old Helldivers 2 Mission Type Brings Back Fond Memories
Although Arrowhead must certainly be commended for its ongoing effort to win back the faith of its player base, the studio has a long way to go in reviving a game that seems to be fading from popularity among its players. However, those that remain have been actively discussing ways to bring the game back to what it was earlier this year, with some suggestions standing out among others.
An old mission type that was discontinued in June is a great example. The Retrieve Essential Personnel mission was an excellent showcase of Helldivers 2 at its chaotic best, with players being swarmed by bots in their effort to retrieve civilians from the field. While its execution left a lot to be desired – leading to its eventual removal – it now represents an opportunity for Arrowhead to breathe new life into its flagship title.
Returning to Glory One Civilian at a Time
Arrowhead could do well to bring back the Retrieve Essential Personnel mission type in Helldivers 2 in order to better address complaints of balancing issues and stagnancy in the game, considering how varied the many experiences of its players have been with its unique requirement of rescuing civilians from swarms of Automatons that are relentless and vicious in equal measure.
The Reddit post below and responses to it are proof that Arrowhead would win many hearts if it were to repair this mission type and bring it back to Helldivers 2.
The meme featured in the post seems appropriate for a mission whose briefing includes a message about how limited space on the rescue shuttle justifies the loss of a few civilians, which has resulted in some memorable encounters for Helldivers 2 players.
Despite the workaround of one Helldiver luring bots away while their teammates rescue civilians, it seems that this mission was still quite a challenge for many players – something that Arrowhead could use to its advantage.
Retrieve Essential Personnel could be the perfect mission type for Arrowhead to fix and reintroduce to Helldivers 2 in its efforts to earn back its player base and take the fight to the likes of Space Marine 2.
