Helldivers 2 is indeed one of the most played games of 2024, with a stable fanbase grinding the game despite loads of controversies and issues. Well, that’s important because Helldivers 2 issues are kind of never-ending ones. Even before one gets resolved, another appears. There’s always something going on in the community; recently, a frustrated player raised an important topic.

Since Helldivers 2 was released, the game has been going through hard times frequently, as players often demand or complain about features that they want Arrowhead to consider. These demands are often valid, and a similar instance once again appeared on Reddit.

Helldivers 2 Players Are Not Happy With Arrowhead’s Measures of Restricting Cheaters

Helldivers 2 has an increasing problem of cheaters ruining the gameplay experience of players with their unethical activities.

Cheaters are a common threat to every online game. Every renowned franchise, from Grand Theft Auto to Call of Duty, faces cheaters who break the rules and use unethical means to ruin others’ experiences. Therefore, Helldivers 2 players also have similar gameplay experiences with cheaters ruining their journey.

Like other franchises, Arrowhead also has anti-cheat software to protect the game from cheaters, named nProtect GameGuard. This is anti-cheat software with the permission to delete files without any agreement of authorities. However, this anti-cheat software seems to be a great failure to protect the game.

The resentment about cheaters has been prominent among the players for a long time, as the trouble with cheaters is only going up. Recently, a veteran player brought this issue to Reddit and said,

Nprotect is a cheap, extremely invasive anticheat, thats known to tanking frameratees, Hell, i wouldnt be shocked if the reason the performance is all over the damn place , is that damn anticheat.”

They elaborated by giving some examples of how they have been harassed by cheaters, and nProtect did nothing against that. They find this part ridiculous, and on Reddit, they asked whether Arrowhead can get rid of this “useless anticheat.

Players Reacted Quite Similarly to Demanding the Anti-Cheat’s Withdrawal

Players agree on the same point that the anti-cheat installed by Arrowhead is messing with the game files to cause a performance drop.

Online cheaters or hackers are a headache for sure, but no anti-cheat can fully stop them. However, the problem with nProtect is that players often report that this anti-cheat software has been deleting and installing game files randomly, which causes crashes. But these activities don’t stop the hackers in return.

So, as soon as the demand for the withdrawal of the anti-cheat came, most Helldivers 2 players joined the claim and stated the same opinion or mocked the software. In the comment section, someone mentioned that Arrowhead has paid for the anti-cheat, so it won’t remove the software.

Another player supported the withdrawal demand and expressed that they would rather deal with cheaters than this software.

Some fans even said that anti-cheats only create an “illusion of integrity,” but none can actually prevent cheaters.

A player has even come up with a suggestion for Arrowhead and mentioned that it should switch its anti-cheat.

Well, anti-cheats are almost the same everywhere, and cheaters find new ways to not get detected. This problem is not going to be solved easily.
