“Yesterday we kidnapped a lvl 7 player and it was beautiful”: Helldivers 2 Legends Find the Fun in the Game Again
Is Helldivers 2 getting a little boring for your squad. A simple change may be all it takes to start having fun again.
Helldivers 2 has had a lot of attention – both positive and negative – since its release earlier this year. The smash hit from Arrowhead Studios has managed to survive turbulent times on account of its unique premise and addictive gameplay loop.
However, a lack of new content in the past few months has seen the game experience a bit of player bleed, as a lack of new missions and ways to kill Automatons and Terminids has a few of its fans moving on to new games. But a few others have managed to find other ways to keep themselves entertained as they wait for the inevitable update from the game’s makers.
Too Much of a Good Thing
In a Reddit post, a Helldivers 2 fan mcsh4shlik has seemingly found a new way to make the game feel less repetitive while recapturing the magic that his squad felt when they first played the game. He recounts how taking on challenging missions with a lower-level player was just what his team needed to feel excited about a game that they were beginning to tire of.
His post is a reminder of what made the game so popular in the first place and underlines the need for such titles to keep a steady stream of new content going in order to retain their player base.
Rediscovering Helldivers 2’s Magic Through the Eyes of a Newbie
With mcsh4shlik and his squad all above level 50 and seven pushing level 60, he narrates how his team decided to take things easy for a while and play the game on lower difficulties. In his post, he tells fans about how being joined by a level 7 player made his team fall in love with the game all over again. The entire post is below:
The player in question joined the team for a mission and decided to join mcsh4shlik’s squad on a higher-difficulty mission per their request. The result was nothing short of marvelous for everybody involved, leading them to advise all other fans of Helldivers 2 to consider their approach for a load of fun.
Other fans of the game were quick to agree and even consoled mcsh4shlik over his new buddy’s sudden disappearance.
Others were quick to point out the need for reliable multiplayer systems in the game to ensure that everybody has a good time.
Others swear by this novel approach to playing the game, sharing similar experiences that they had with other players.
While mcsh4shlik’s idea could certainly help retain some of its players, it’s clear that Arrowhead Studios needs to add new content to its popular title. Perhaps new mission types and locations could help. We’re excited to see what the studio is about to bring and ready to dive back in to save Democracy.
