Gears of War is one of the most popular third-person shooter series. Started in 2006, this series has multiple successful installments that have attracted the attention of players. However, as soon as Gears of War: E-Day’s trailer and concept were revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase event this year, fans jumped back to re-experience the previous installment.

Initially, Gears of War 5 was released in 2019, and the story took a turn, with the main enemy faction replaced by another enemy type. In the beginning, players initially discussed and accepted it. However, even after almost five years, it seems like the dissatisfaction still exists.

Gears of War 5 Annoys Players Several Years After Launch

Even after nearly five years of its initial release, Gears of War 5 hasn’t completely won the hearts of fans.

The renewed interest in playing Gears of War 5 has once again brought up a long-suppressed dissatisfaction among players about a change. While playing the game, a player posted about the Swarm, which Gears of War 4 introduced and the next major installment continued.

Initially, the Locust Hordes used to be the main enemy type presented in the Gears of War series; however, the concept of the Swarm landed in the fourth installment and replaced the Locusts. Gears of War 5 brought the same tradition forward.

However, the Reddit user stated that they enjoyed the gameplay, but there was something that bothered them. They mentioned,

Def is lacking in the horror side of things and like I said I’m not a fan of how the characters were written..it’s kind of childish but the gameplay loop has been fun thus far.”

Surprisingly, they didn’t mention the Swarm was the problem, but fans took it that way and expressed their long-suppressed anger.

Players Want The Coalition to Return to the Previous Enemy Type

Gears of War 5 fans are not satisfied with the enemy type they received in the game.

Locust Hordes used to be one of the most threatening enemy types to deal with in the Gears of War series. This frightening race of reptilian humanoids has won the hearts of fans from the beginning. So, the sudden change didn’t make players happy about it. As soon as the topic arises, even after almost five years, they talk about their favorite enemy faction being the one they want to get back.

One player expressed that the storyline, characterization, and Swarm enemy type don’t suit the franchise’s glorious history. According to them, locusts were more threatening, and it was more fun to encounter them.

Players, however, find Gears of War 5 better than Gears of War 4, despite the concept of the Swarm being weak.

Gears of War: E-Day has no release date yet, but because it will take the storyline back to when the Locust attack began, players will definitely get their favorite enemy type back in the next installment.

However, in the meantime, don’t forget to check out some potential good news for PlayStation players who want to experience Gears of War: E-Day.
