SUMMARY
  • Space Marine 2 has run into some roadblocks after a very succesful launch.
  • Saber Interactive will be disappointed to learn about several complaints from players who have spent some time with its latest release.
  • The studio has an opportunity to step in and remedy the situation, and could learn a few lessons from Arrowhead Game Studios about how not to go about it.

It seems that Saber Interactive is set to face the same problems as Arrowhead Game Studios, as Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is beginning to show a few cracks in its armor with some players getting bored of its gameplay loop.

Despite a revamped combat system working in tandem with an excellent, well-paced narrative that brings Demetrian Titus back in action after the events of the first game, it seems that Space Marine 2 faces a situation that Helldivers 2 players might be all too familiar with.

Space Marine 2 faces some heat after its promising launch in a disappointing situation for Saber Interactive.

Saber Interactive would be disappointed to learn that Space Marine 2 currently faces a lot of negative feedback about the game – a situation that could happen to even the best titles once the hype around them wears off. While that is a sad state of affairs for a game that held a lot of promise in the run-up to its release, it could also be an opportunity for Saber to pull up its socks and set about fixing several issues in the game that could help alleviate some of its woes.

Among the many complaints about Space Marine 2 is the onset of stagnancy in its gameplay loop after players spend a sizeable chunk of time in its new take on the Warhammer 40K universe. It is a complaint that may sound familiar to Helldivers 2 players who have almost given up on Arrowhead’s best efforts to rekindle interest in its frenetic action and unique premise.

Revamped combat and a compelling narrative have not stopped players from pointing out several issues in the game.

With a number of complaints about specific elements of the game cropping up online, Saber Interactive would do well to listen to its players and implement changes to the game that address those issues in order to avoid the situation that Arrowhead has brought onto itself.

While the post below is an example of how players find the game boring after they get a chance to experience all of what it has to offer in its entirety, it is by no means the last of what Space Marine 2 players want fixed in the game.

Another player complained that server issues and a distinct lack of balancing in the game’s PvE mode have marred their enjoyment of its otherwise solid gameplay.

The post below brings up issues that could cause a lot of concern for Saber considering its efforts to make playing Titus feel like its players are in control of a Primaris-enhanced Space Marine.

Another issue that seems to be cropping up quite a lot is that playing the single-player campaign solo may not be everybody’s cup of tea considering how the game’s AI companions are of no help at all in some of its harder encounters.

While it is not too late for Saber Interactive to step in and address all of these complaints in order to get Space Marine 2 back on track, one cannot help but be reminded of how Helldivers 2 started at the top of a crowded genre but now languishes at its very bottom.

Warhammer 40K fans will certainly hold out hope for a title that they have been waiting a long time for and it is up to Saber to set things right.
