Given its collaborative nature that has helped it stand the test of time throughout the years, it was inevitable for Fortnite to venture into the realm of rhythm-based video games. Kicking off at the end of 2023, Fortnite Festival brought yet another layer to an IP that keeps growing with each collaboration, resulting in even more possibilities for Epic Games to explore on the musical side of things.

With four seasons already featuring huge names from the world of music, the publisher has announced the next artist set to headline Season 5, and it looks like fans of the reggaeton genre will most likely appreciate this one.

Fortnite Festival has had no shortage of excellent artists coming on board to headline its previous seasons, as The Weeknd started the trend in December 2023, followed by Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish later down the line. Not shying away from the wide range of musical genres that the rhythm video game has been providing its fanbase, perhaps the biggest surprise was Metallica joining in on the fun in Season 4 and bringing some intense heavy metal vibes to Epic Games’ title.

But that genre exploration has, fortunately, not ended yet, as reggaeton and Latin pop superstar Karol G has officially been announced as a headliner in Season 5.

For those not well-versed in the world of Latin music, Karol G is one of the most influential reggaeton artists of all time, launching her latest album last year and turning it into a massive stadium tour all across the world. Not only will players be able to get their hands on Instruments dedicated to the Latin star, but they can also equip an exclusive Outfit only available through the Festival Pass’ Premium Reward Track.

Of course, it goes without saying that Season 5 will also feature an immersive playable concert, so for the fans who missed out on the nearly-a-year-long Mañana Será Bonito Tour, this could be the perfect way to experience the Colombian artist’s performance.

Along with the reveal of its next headliner, Epic Games also shared when Fortnite Festival Season 5 is going to officially begin, which is tomorrow, on August 16 when the v31.00 patch launches for the game.

It is also important to note that the fifth season of the rhythm-based title will come to a close in just over two months, on November 2 at 12 AM ET.

Considering the kind of message and positivity that Karol G constantly aspires to convey through her usually upbeat music, Epic is also introducing EmPower-Ups that will allow players “to blast away negative energy and spread posi vibes in a neon-drenched party.”

There is a lot more to come in the next Fortnite Festival season, but its launch should keep the Epic Games player base satisfied until its Battle Royale counterpart enters its highly anticipated Halloween phase.
