Fortnite’s latest collaboration with Marvel Comics has been going strong for a couple of days now, with Chapter 5 Season 4 marking the return of some familiar faces while also adding characters that have never gotten the Epic Games makeover.

However, veteran fans of the Battle Royale title are probably aware that this is not the first time that the two companies have collaborated with one another, as a game-changing event just a few years ago proved to be one of the most memorable experiences that the game has ever offered.

Looking back fondly at an amazing weapon that was introduced in Chapter 2 Season 4 all the way back in 2020, fans have been ecstatic to find out that it has made a grand comeback in the newest Fortnite adventure, thanks to which it has already garnered quite the fanbase.

As Epic Games announced the arrival of iconic superheroes and villains in its Battle Royale title with an exciting trailer featuring none other than Doctor Doom taking center stage, the return of an extremely fun weapon from Chapter 2 Season 4 immediately caught the attention of Fortnite fans who have stuck by the game for a while.

For those players who have joined in on the fun relatively later, Marvel Comics and Epic Games collaborated back in 2020 for Nexus War, a season during which characters like Thor and Iron Man took on the massive threat that Galactus brought to the Island. One of the major additions that came with the Marvel-themed season was a weapon called the Stark Industries Energy Rifle, an extremely strong Assault Weapon that could be utilized in various ranges and scenarios.

With Hope, one of the main characters in the overarching Fortnite lore, holding the weapon in her hands during Chapter 5 Season 4’s rendition of the final battle from Avengers: Endgame, the OG fanbase of the Battle Royale is welcoming the latest adventure with open arms.

While Fortnite has definitely had its ups and downs throughout the years, the addition of a fan-favorite weapon from arguably one of the greatest seasons ever presented by Epic Games has proven to be a driving force in motivating fans to give the game another chance.

Knowing Epic Games’ excellent collaborative track record every time it has brought Marvel Comics into the fold, Chapter 5 Season 4, titled Absolute Doom, was already shaping up to be a worthy addition to the Battle Royale, but the callbacks to some of Fortnite’s standout moments have elevated it to even greater heights.

Even players who have been a bit skeptical of the game’s recent focus on collaborations instead of improving the gameplay started to get on the title’s side due to the nostalgic inclusion that the latest season has brought with it.

As Fortnite has begun to realize that perhaps looking back at the past is not the worst direction it can take, Chapter 5 Season 4 looks like it will keep the player base occupied until the Battle Royale potentially enters its second OG adventure in a few months.
