Fortnite Brings Out Metallica, Magneto, and Fallout’s Power Armor for Chapter 5 Season 3’s Launch
The wasteland looks devastatingly epic.
It has not been long since the Fortnite fanbase was spending time with the Greek gods and goddesses in the previous season of the ongoing fifth chapter, but after Myths & Mortals, it is finally time for Wrecked. Set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland that is very reminiscent of the Mad Max universe, Epic Games is keeping its battle royale’s collaborative nature going with various properties making their way to the title.
Considering how the latest season focuses on devastating destruction, it was only fitting for it to get an action-heavy launch trailer that lives up to its theme, and the end of the world sure does look pretty exciting.
The Wasteland and All of Its Horrors Await the Fortnite Fanbase
While Chapter 5 Season 2 mainly revolved around Greek mythology, the latest Fortnite season seems to be taking inspiration from various franchises, including Mad Max and more.
As metal as the concept of a post-apocalyptic wasteland sounds, it would have been a missed opportunity if the launch trailer did not include one of the most iconic bands in the genre. Fortunately, Epic Games understood the assignment and used Metallica’s Fuel in the footage, elevating the thrilling action that it showcases in the sandy landscape.
An intense sandstorm has taken over the island, and similar to how Mad Max and Fallout have done things with their wastelands, a group called the Wasteland Warriors has taken advantage of the situation and taken control of the terrain. The gang uses the massive Brutal Beachhead to run its operations, and led by Megalo Don, who is clearly inspired by the Megalodon sharks, it is about to wreak a lot of havoc in the battle royale.
Vehicular combat is also playing a huge role in the new season, as players can infuse Nitro abilities into their vehicles or even themselves to turn the odds in their favor.
A Wasteland Variant of Magneto Comes to the Battle Royale
The Mad Max inspiration and the Power Armor are not the only pop culture elements that have been added to Fortnite’s latest season, and even before the launch trailer, it was revealed that Epic Games would be partnering up with Marvel once again.

Enter Magneto, the first character from the Marvel universe to be making his way to the wasteland, and given his magnetic abilities, it would be interesting to see their full potential, especially with all the metal lying around in the form of vehicles or weapons.
Additionally, players can also modify their vehicles with heavy weaponry, such as Machine Gun and Grenade Launcher Turrets.
Although some older modes may not be coming back to Fortnite anytime soon, the new season seems like an electrifying time for the battle royale.
