Fortnite Brings Back a 5-Year-Old Weapon So Rare Fans Can’t Quite Believe It

Since the game started its journey in 2017, it never failed to surprise players with distinctive cosmetic items like weapon wraps, outfits, pickaxes, etc. Some of these were the rarest items that Epic Games never included for a second time once they were gone. That was the same case with a pickaxe that suddenly made an appearance five years later.
Pickaxes are the melee weapons that players carry with them while starting a match, and the game offers multiple types of pickaxes. While some of them can be acquired through Battle Pass, others need to be purchased from the Item Shop. However, the sudden appearance of a rare pickaxe has surprised players a lot.
Ahead of Fortnitemares, Epic Games Surprised Players With a Rare Item
Epic Games follows an in-game shop model where some of these items and equipment never appear again, thanks to the constant rotations and additions of new items to the Item Shop.
The Jagged Edge pickaxe was one of the rarest pickaxe models that haven’t appeared in the game for the last five years. In 2019, Fortnite players received this pickaxe in the Item Shop, but after the rotation in August that year, it was removed and never added again.
Recently, on X, a reputed Fortnite leaker, Shiina, posted an image of the Jagged Edge pickaxe and captioned that it has made its way back to the game after “1,822 DAYS.”
As the image reveals, this is an uncommon rarity item added to the game, though the design is pretty simple. It consists of two handaxes with spikes on the blades. There’s nothing special about the design or power, but players are still shocked about its appearance.
It seems to be a golden opportunity for the die-hard Fortnite fans who hadn’t purchased it during its initial appearance in 2019.
That’s not all. Recently, an exclusive pickaxe made its way to Fortnite that Epic Games removed with compensation.
Fortnite Accidentally Added an Exclusive Pickaxe to the Shop After Two Years
At this point, the entire attention is on the upcoming Fortnitemares event, and already, leakers have started teasing the collaborations that will come this season. However, Epic Games has prepared more surprises for players, even though some of them were accidentally added.
Aside from the Jagged Axe, Item Shop received another exclusive pickaxe for a few hours, and that was the Bow Blades Pickaxe. This item was initially introduced to the game in 2022, during Chapter 3 Season 3. Once again, it was added to the game during Thursday’s shop rotation.
Fortnite officially released a statement and withdrew the pickaxe from the Item Shop, but Epic Games announced compensation to players who have already purchased it.
It mentioned on the note that those who have bought it already can keep the Bow Blades Pickaxe, and they will get back all the V-Bucks they have spent on it.
Additionally, it announced that it has plans to create a new variant of this Pickaxe, which will be exclusively granted to those who have the original one.
Epic Games is ready to take these accidentally added pickaxes back too if the original owners feel like giving them back.
