With still a few more months to go before the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series finally gets its next installment, there are still a lot of details that have not officially been revealed by developer Spike Chunsoft just yet. That is especially true for its massive roster of playable characters, as Sparking Zero is set to include more than 164 fighters for players to use in intense battles, but publisher Bandai Namco is taking things gradually, revealing more information about the upcoming game with each new trailer.

However, two characters that fans of the anime will instantly recognize and likely get excited for have received their first looks, and despite them not being the most major presence in the Dragon Ball universe, their inclusion in Sparking Zero is more than welcome.

Move Aside 17 and 18; It Is Time for Dragon Ball’s Other Androids to Shine

These two may be the face of the Androids, but Dragon Ball has featured others in the past as well.

When one thinks of the Androids in Dragon Ball, 17 and 18 are usually the first ones that come to mind, mainly because the anime actually develops them further down the line as both of them are much more marketable than their other counterparts.

Although Androids 17 and 18 have been featured in one of the themed trailers that Sparking Zero has been getting in the months leading up to its highly anticipated launch, the absence of Dr. Gero’s other creations has been quite glaring up until now. But according to a couple of new V-JUMP scans that have been revealing screenshots and themes of trailers before they even see their official releases, Androids 16 and 19 seem to be making appearances in the upcoming Budokai Tenkaichi chapter.

For those unaware or who may have forgotten the significance of these two Androids, Android 19 is actually the very first creation of Dr. Gero that the Z fighters face after training for three years in preparation of the incoming threat. Despite being warned by Future Trunks, whose world was destroyed by the Androids, the Z fighters find it quite difficult to deal with the new enemies, and Android 19 very quickly proves that Dr. Gero’s experiments are extreme forces to be reckoned with.

On the other hand, Android 16 is reawakened by Androids 17 and 18, as they choose to ignore their creator’s pleas to not do so, and the character fits the typical description of an android, similar in appearance to how the TEKKEN franchise portrays Jack.

Androids 16 and 19 Are Getting the Respect They Deserve in Sparking Zero

It looks like Dr. Gero is getting all his major creations added to Sparking Zero's expansive roster.

It has been quite some time since Android 19 was featured in a Dragon Ball video game, as the character’s last appearance was in 2020’s Kakarot, whereas Android 16 usually gets a bit more respect in the universe, previously appearing in 2022’s The Breakers.

However, it seems like a nice change of pace for the two characters to get their moment in the spotlight, although it remains to be seen what trailer theme these Androids would fit in, but fans are excited about their additions nonetheless.

In fact, Androids 16 and 19 played a crucial role in one of the most important sagas in Dragon Ball Z, and despite having experienced the storyline in countless other titles, the community can’t wait to relive it once again.

With inclusions of less popular characters and franchise staple gameplay mechanics, Sparking Zero is gearing up to be an extraordinary title worthy of the Budokai Tenkaichi series.
