Even Astro Bot Avoids The Last of Us Part 2 Among Its Numerous PlayStation Cameos
Astro Bot is one of the most hyped PlayStation exclusive games released this September, with a lot of cameo characters, but it carefully avoided one.
- Astro Bot received a grand reception after its global launch on September 6.
- PlayStation has covered a wide range of games and brought loads of cameo characters.
- Players have noticed that though Joel and Ellie are in the cameo characters list, Abby is missing, which signifies the game carefully avoided The Last of Us Part 2.
After a long wait and super hype, PlayStation players received Astro Bot. This was not the first time that a PlayStation-exclusive game was about to get a sequel, but this cute 3D platformer game has created massive hype among fans from the moment it got its first trailer.
Among the most exciting aspects, the game has multiple cameo characters from different games, but The Last of Us Part 2 seems not to be included.
Astro Bot Has a Long List of Cameos
Astro Bot is a PlayStation-exclusive game, and the way it is designed and presented to players clearly shows the team’s efforts in making it. Even the launch method of this game was so unconventional that it blew PS5 fans away.
Another interesting part is its cameo characters. Cameos are nothing surprising at all, but what makes Astro Bot different is that it has given players cute robot versions of some of the most formidable PlayStation gaming protagonists and antagonists.
For example, the long cameo list contains cute little versions of Kratos, Mimir, Thor from the God of War series, Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima, Sam Porter Bridges from Death Stranding, etc.
This list is huge, with numerous in-game characters from different franchises making little robotic appearances, whom probably players never thought of finding in such a way. Among them, there’s a popular action-adventure series, The Last of Us, from which two leading characters, Joel and Ellie, made their way to the Astro Bot cameo list, but surprisingly, no character from the next part of the game was included.
Sony’s Astro Bot Cameos Avoided The Last of Us Part 2
The Last of Us was one of the best action-adventure series released on PlayStation and PC, which was set in a post-apocalyptic United States where Joel and Ellie have to survive the cannibalistic creatures. This journey has touched the hearts of the fans.
After the massive success of this game, when its sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, came, it utterly disappointed players, which was reflected on their Metacritic user scores. While The Last of Us received 9.2 on it, the sequel dropped down to a score of 5.8.
Now, after seeing Astro Bot featuring Joel and Ellie but not Abby, players noticed that the cameos were from the first part, and PlayStation avoided the second.
The character of Abby was especially hated, which was reflected in the comment section. Responding to this Reddit post, other players stated that Joel and Ellie are iconic characters, while Abby is terrible.
Some players mockingly said featuring characters from The Last of Us Part 2 would have affected the popularity of Astro Bot.
Though one PlayStation game (Concord) has suffered a terrible fate this month, Astro Bot seems to make up for its failure as players have welcomed it well.
