A sentiment felt by plenty, one Shadow of the Erdtree player took it several steps further, as he made the concept of map fragments null and void.

For those unaware, the DLC is the biggest that FromSoftware has ever created, and navigating through its numerous regions can be a hassle without an in-game map to guide players, which is where the fragments come into play.

As players explore the world that Miyazaki and his team created, they come across fragments that are reflected in the provided map, unlocking the places that they have been to and pinpointing where certain important elements are. But in this player’s case, it does not seem like there was any exploration carried out, as it looks like he just quickly went through the main story and did not really care about any of the lore that has been carefully incorporated in almost every aspect of Shadow of the Erdtree.

Not taking the time to fully appreciate the world that the developers spent a long time creating seems like the furthest thing from what Hidetaka Miyazaki would want, as the director himself has admitted to using all of the helpful resources that are present in Elden Ring to beat it.

And considering that Shadow of the Erdtree has raised the bar for video game expansions, maybe a quick first playthrough doesn’t do it much justice.
