While this company currently holds a top position in the world of gaming, it has gone through some tough times.

Probably gamers will unanimously agree that a logo plays an important role in identifying a company. They make the companies easily recognizable, but the EA Sports one has come through loads of evolution.

History of EA Sports and Its Logo That You Probably Don’t Know

The EA Sports logo has gone through multiple changes to become what it is now.

EA, or Electronic Arts, was founded in 1982 by Trip Hawkins, an ex-Apple employee. When this company started its journey, it had many challenges to overcome to make its place in the ever-evolving gaming market. As it kept gaining popularity with games, a subsidiary division, EA Sports, came into existence in 1991, which was dedicated to making sports games.

Despite fans sometimes slamming the company for the annual release of games without quality, they also tend to wait for these games.

As a company’s logo is something that often attracts the attention of the audience, it has done loads of experiments to reach the current symbol it has.

Initially, when the logo was designed, the main objective was to not only make it different from what the parent company had at that time, but also to give the entire detail so players didn’t get confused with EA and EA Sports.

However, over time, this logo has gone through changes, and the company never hesitated to experiment with the visuals of the logo to find the perfect one.

EA Sports Logo: 1991 to 1993

The initial logo was designed carefully but wasn’t very appealing visually.

This is the first logo designed to deliver the message that it is part of the Electronic Arts Sports Network. That’s why the ‘EASN’ past got the most emphasis and became the center of attraction. If you take a close look, you will almost instantly notice that the color contrast went pretty well with the bold, large logo fonts of the logo.

This logo even had two complete lines below the abbreviation. Overall, it was a pretty space-consuming one. Ultimately, it didn’t work out well enough, and within two years, the EA Sports logo was changed to something new. The company released its new logo in 1993.

EA Sports Logo: 1993 to 2000

This one was the second logo designed, which omitted some parts of the previous logo.

This second logo can be called the first official logo with the symbol saying EA Sports, though it also had Electronic Arts below it. It was introduced after the subsidiary was separated from the parent company. The color combination wasn’t much different, except for the shade of blue.

This logo was more attractive with the ‘SN’ part gone forever. The bright red color easily attracts attention with the writing style of ‘E’ to make an impression. However, after a few years, again, EA Sports went through changes.

EA Sports Logo: 2000 to 2005

This third logo was designed where Electronic Arts was not anymore included.

When the logo went through the third transformation process, it had a silver ring around it. This brought a silver ring, and within it the symbols of the company made it look prettier than before. Aside from that, the ‘EA’ part was a little modified. Though the color remained the same, the design of ‘A’ was simple this time, omitting the curved part.

It completely removed the Electronic Arts part that was in the previous logo. This one was in existence until a new one came in 2005.

EA Sports Logo: 2005 to 2008

This was the fourth evolution stage where the colors got a different shade to become brighter.

Since 2000, the EA Sports logo hasn’t ever changed, at least the symbol. It only got refined with every transformation. The silver ring was the same, and the design of EA Sports was also the same. The thing that was changed was the color of EA. From red it shifted to burgundy, which made the logo much more attractive.

However, the company wasn’t satisfied, and again it tried something new and brought a new logo in 2008.

EA Sports Logo: 2008 to 2016

During these eight years, the logo went through two transformation stages but arrived at this during the final stage.

In these eight years, the logo has gone through changes twice, but none of those brought any significant change to point out, except for the color of the symbols. The ring and the symbols were the same.

It only added some blueish shade and gray gradient on the background to make it look more impressive, as the choices of fans were evolving with every passing year.

EA Sports Logo: 2016 to Present

This is the current EA Sports logo that players can see in all EA Sports games.

Once again, after eight years the logo has gone through two evolution processes, which didn’t make it completely different from what it was. When the 2016 logo was introduced, it omitted the gray gradient and all the reflections. Only the 3D effect was there. Additionally, it added the ‘™’ thing after ‘Sports.’

In the next evolution, this logo has removed all the sparkling things and 3D effects to make it a flat one with no extra effects. The gray circle still exists, but it has no effect now. This is only a simple design where the “EA Sports” is written inside a gray circle.

These are the steps that led the EA Sports logo to reach its current form. Precisely, the logo has gone through multiple stages of transformation, but mostly, the designers have experimented with its color combination to make it more appealing to the audience, and they remember it as soon as they see it.

However, the use of three different colors in designing the logo has never changed. Over the decades, it has been using blue, red/burgundy, and silver to make it visually appealing.
