SUMMARY
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is about to release within a few days.
  • At this point, Activision announced its plans regarding the Ricochet anti-cheat software.
  • However, its reliance on AI doesn't sound too promising.

Call of Duty and cheating are inseparable. Despite years of struggle, Activision is still miles behind hackers who use innovative ways to ruin the fun of the Call of Duty games. With every new installment, Activision promises players that it will bring some more potent ways to identify and ban cheaters, and Black Ops 6 is no exception.

Cheating has always been a prominent issue in all the games in the franchise. Therefore, it’s not hard to assume that the upcoming Black Ops entry will face the same problem. So, like every time, Activision is ready with its ‘foolproof’ method of banning cheaters from the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Is Relying on AI to Identify and Remove Hackers

Black Ops 6 is coming soon with a new and updated Ricochet system to detect cheaters.

Call of Duty is one of the massively popular FPS franchises, with millions of gamers waiting for the upcoming major instalment in the Black Ops series. However, no matter how good the content will be, the lurking threat of cheaters is always there to destroy the vibe.

Despite Ricochet being introduced long ago to prevent cheaters, this issue has only increased over the years. Though initially introduced to give clear and transparent communication in preventing the hacks, Ricochet hasn’t been a big success.

Even after loads of messes and banning the wrong accounts, Activision still has great trust in this anti-cheat software. Again, the team has promised to add it to the upcoming instalment, but this time with the twist of AI support. In a recent blog post, it stated that, “What our team has been working on for the future is a suite of tools that use AI to find and fight cheaters.

Activision claimed to have gathered data from the cheaters and analyzed the matches of Call of Duty League to get information about honest players. This will help the team program the AI to identify the cheaters.

The team has great hope for this AI version of the anti-cheat software, but once again, this method will more likely do the same things. It will result in more wrong account bans and player frustrations.

What Are the Anti-cheat Features That Black Ops 6 Will Have at Launch?

AI anti-cheat will more likely make things complicated in the upcoming Black Ops instalment.

It’s been years since players received a game in the franchise without any cheating issues. The current state is so bad that players find that the era of Black Ops 2 was the best. Activision has been trying hard to remove these hackers, but the result is not satisfying. Even the team knows this fact that abolishing them completely is impossible at this point.

However, the efforts it put in during the beta were great. In Black Ops 6, the objective is to ban cheaters even before they load into the game. Team Ricochet claimed during the beta that it had banned “over 12,000 confirmed cheating accounts before they ever saw the inside of a match.”

The official version will also be launched with multiple safety measures, like new machine-learning behavioral systems, new machine-learning detection models, an updated version of the kernel-level driver, etc., to analyze performance and detect cheaters.

Well, relying on AI doesn’t sound very promising to players, especially when cheaters are always finding new loopholes to avoid AI.

Whether these new methods will bring some changes or worsen the condition will be clear within a few days as soon as the game officially comes.
