Blizzard Entertainment is about to bring one of its iconic titles back. StarCraft is one of Blizzard’s classic real-time strategy franchises that was massively popular among fans before it suddenly faced a pause. After 2017, this series never got any major installment or remake until 2024, with back-to-back updates about this series.

As the year approaches its end, gamers are getting unexpected updates that none ever thought of hearing. Developers are rapidly turning the tables with their announcements of upcoming games, and reportedly, Blizzard is also getting on the list with the StarCraft series.

Blizzard Refocused on StarCraft After Seven Years of Abandoning It

After a long pause, Blizzard has reportedly started working on the StarCraft series.

Started in 1998, this series continued up to 2017. After the release of StarCraft: Remastered, it, for some reason, surrendered to a long silence. Passing this long gap, once again, updates surfaced about this series, and according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, Blizzard is working on a new StarCraft shooter.

During IGN’s Unlocked podcast, he appeared to talk about his upcoming book, Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment. In this book, he mentioned a StarCraft shooter.

Naturally, the host raised this topic to get a confirmation whether this game is really under development. In reply, Schreier stated,

Yes, that is a project that as far as I know is in development, or at least as of the time that I wrote this book was in development. They are working on a StarCraft shooter, StarCraft is not dead at Blizzard.”

Along with that, he mentioned that the project might have been canceled already as it is Blizzard and nothing can be confirmed about this developer. Reportedly, former Far Cry executive producer Dan Hay is leading the project after joining Blizzard in 2022.

Though no official news has yet been released about this shooter game, it seems like Blizzard is planning to give players the third major installment in the StarCraft series sometime in the future. At least the company is thinking of this series after several years, which is now clear after another announcement.

StarCraft Games Are Coming to Xbox Game Pass for Free Access

Though two StarCraft games are coming to Game Pass, console gamers are unsure of where they stand.

While this gaming series was in a deep slumber for seven long years, Blizzard has suddenly started reminding gamers of these iconic games. After Microsoft acquired Blizzard, players expected to get renowned games on Xbox Game Pass, and in fact, they received a few big titles. It seems like it is time to get StarCraft games on Game Pass.

StarCraft is mostly a PC-based series with one game released on Nintendo 64. While Blizzard is not trying to expand its player base on other consoles, it definitely wants to give these games more exposure on PC.

That’s probably the reason StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II: Campaign Collection are coming on PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate on November 5, 2024. Therefore, gamers with PC Game Pass subscriptions can access these games for free. That’s pretty disappointing for Xbox players, as they still don’t know where they stand.

StarCraft games were some of the most unforgettable titles; hopefully, they will keep this popularity intact even after years.
