Astro Bot’s Creative Launch in Astro’s Playroom Is One of the Coolest Things PlayStation Has Done Recently
Astro Bot was one of the most hyped PlayStation exclusive games this year, and it followed a unique technique with its launch.
- Astro Bot has finally been released, ending a prolonged waiting period for PlayStation players.
- After Concord's disastrous performance, PlayStation's unique strategy to welcome Astro Bot has surprised players.
- However, Concord players are facing issues getting refunds, especially those who have purchased the physical edition of the game.
Astro Bot was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of 2024, at least for PlayStation 5 players. Being the sequel to one of the cutest PlayStation-exclusive games, Astro’s Playroom, this 3D platformer game has created hype among fans. Finally, ending the wait, the game was released on September 6, 2024, but it has even surprised players with its launch.
While players have been predicting Astro Bot to be an outstanding game, none really expected the way Sony brought it to them. PlayStation has shifted aside from the conventional release method and taken an innovative path that has blown away fans’ minds.
Astro Bot Didn’t Forget Its Predecessor at the Launch Moment
Astro Bot looks cute and seems to be designed for young gamers, but that’s not the case. This game has something to offer to all kinds of players with different skill levels. While the gameplay and colorful visuals of the game have mesmerized players, the release procedure has left everything behind.
It’s not the first time that PlayStation has brought a sequel to one of its exclusive games. But to make it special, it took an innovative way and included the predecessor as well. On the last day, just before the game launched, PlayStation posted a video on the official X account, which takes players to the PlayStation Labo control room in Astro’s Playroom where a timer was going on.
As soon as the light went off, the countdown began, and all the little robots waiting there to welcome the new game started jumping, fighting, and dancing, but all of them were continuously shouting. As soon as the timer reached 0, the game launched on PlayStation 5.
That was creative. Even PlayStation later re-posted this unique launch video for those players who missed it initially. In the reply section, players went crazy about this creative approach to a game’s release.
While Astro Bot has attracted a significant amount of players’ attention, another game failed disastrously within two weeks of its release.
PlayStation Is in a Confusing State of Success and Failure at the Same Time
Just two weeks before Astro Bot’s release, PlayStation got another game, Concord. While that game was never expected to be a massive hit, Sony probably never thought it to be the worst game released this year with an even lower concurrent player count on Steam than Rocksteady Studios’ biggest flop, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Within twelve days of its release, game director Ryan Ellis released an official statement saying that the game would be officially pulled off from the market and all the servers would be closed on September 6.
Therefore, on the day on which PlayStation released one of the most-awaited games in such a creative way, another game was closed for an indefinite time. There’s no update on when this game will again come or whether it will ever be re-released.
Though the company assured players that they would receive their refunds if they purchased Concord, the process still seems not to be an easy one, especially for those who have purchased the physical edition of the game.
