SUMMARY
  • After XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws pathetically failed, Ubisoft entered the worst phase it could have ever encountered.
  • While the company is on the edge of falling to zero, Assassin's Creed Shadows is the only hope for its survival.
  • However, players are not at all sympathizing with Ubisoft; instead, they find it a deserved thing for the company.

Ubisoft is going through the worst time ever in its decades-long journey. The gaming industry often goes through ups and downs that affect even the most renowned developers. However, Ubisoft has never been so badly affected by this before, as this year the company only encountered losses until this point.

The Assassin’s Creed series is one of the defining franchises of Ubisoft, and the upcoming installment will be released on November 12, 2024. This is the only hope that can turn the table for the company after two consequent failures in 2024 and several underperforming games throughout these years.

Ubisoft’s Constant Downfall Concerns Fans and Shareholders

After two back-to-back hits, Ubisoft has placed all hopes on Assassin’s Creed Shadows to turn the table.

In 2024, Ubisoft announced the release of three major games. Among them, XDefient was released on May 21, and three months late on August 30, 2024. Though a lot of hopes were placed on these two games, unfortunately, both games met miserable fates, with the former receiving 4.6 on Metacritic and the latter 5.4.

While XDefiant’s failure was still manageable, Star Wars Outlaws has broken all the limits as its constant low sales caused Ubisoft a stock crash in the French gaming market. Even though the graphics of the game were well done, and it has multiple iconic locations from the Star Wars series, nothing saved it from its downfall.

The latest stats of Ubisoft’s stock prices show the rapid downfall. Reportedly, the market value fell -30.27% in the past month, which fans consider the “Endgame” for the company. This is the lowest Ubisoft has reached in the last ten years

This failure has concerned the shareholders, and some of them demanded Ubisoft make the company go private. Some even asked Ubisoft to “implement a comprehensive cost reduction and optimize staffing” to meet the industry standard. In simple words, job cuts are what they proposed.

At this point, the post-launch support of XDefiant is also uncertain. If Season 3 does not improve in player count, the game will lose the much-required post-launch player support. This will make the game worse for those who have been grinding it.

For a recovery, all the hopes are now placed on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will be released this November.

Players Reacted Weirdly About Ubisoft’s Back-To-Back Failures

Ubisoft fans are extremely angry with the company after it ignored fans’ feedback.

Generally, fans get upset when their favorite game developers suffer hard times. Expectedly, that should be the case with Ubisoft followers, but the reactions were completely different in most cases.

Currently, the company has appeared in a state where Assassin’s Creed Shadows will decide the future of the company, but strangely, fans expressed that Ubisoft deserved this fall.

Some of them stated that from this point, Assassin’s Creed Shadows can’t save the company from going bankrupt, even if it performs well.

A lot of Ubisoft players agreed to the point that the company failed to deliver anything great in the last few years.

Even frustrated fans stated that Ubisoft must reach 0 to give other companies a lesson.

About multiple games, players were angry as Ubisoft never considered any of the feedback and launched the game with the same issues that were previously pointed out during beta runs.

This ignorance has made them furious, which is probably the reason behind them reacting in this way.
