Eight years after the last Batman: Arkham game, Warner Bros., along with Meta, shared the gameplay for Batman: Arkham Shadow on Gamescom 2024 Day 1. However, this trailer has sparked controversy.
Gamescom 2024 is getting more exciting each day. It’s been only three days since the event started, but already, a lot of renowned games’ trailers have made their way to the event. Unfortunately, not each of them pleased fans, and Batman: Arkham Shadow is among them.
Warner Bros. Is Determined to Get Back the Love It Has Lost With Previous Failure
Initially, when Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was announced, this game created massive hype, but after its release, fans got totally disheartened. This game was one of the biggest failures Warner Bros. ever faced. Therefore, as a savior, it has chosen the best DC superhero and announced Batman: Arkham Shadow.
During the opening night of Gamescom 2024, the gameplay trailer was revealed, and it seems pretty impressive with an attractive storyline, which will take players to find the main antagonist of the game, the Rat King.
The trailer was fun, as it revealed classic Batman features like the Grapple Gun, Explosive Gel, the Bat-slam move, Detective Mode, and Glide Kick. Even so, it has shown the iconic Critical Strike meter that fills up as Batman takes down enemies without getting hit. The Shock Gloves from the series are also featured in the trailer.
The exact release date hasn’t yet been revealed, but this game will come out in October 2024. The most interesting yet controversial part is that it is a complete VR game, and players can access this game on Meta Quest 3.
That’s where the problem begins, and players started expressing their dissatisfaction with not being able to play a Batman game because of this.
Even a Good Batman: Arkham Shadow Trailer Can’t Save the Game From Controversies
VR games have become popular since Meta came, but still, most players don’t have VR sets to play those games. Therefore, they prefer to get the games on consoles and PCs instead of VR. So, a game like Batman: Arkham Shadow exclusively coming to Meta Quest 3 is kind of unacceptable for the majority of fans, and they will miss the chance to experience this adventure.
Frustrated players questioned the sanity of the developers and asked whether it was stupid to make it an exclusive VR game.
Some players are even upset about never getting the chance to experience the game due to its exclusivity.
However, a lot of players are even more excited, as some mentioned that this game would never have been made if not for VR.
