A long-awaited game is finally here. Alone in the Dark is not a new title, but it’s just a reimagination of a classic game from the ’90s. However, it has recreated the scary atmosphere accurately to bring a proper survival horror vibe. Veteran players are aware that survival horror games and puzzles are integrally related and some of them are indeed challenging. Therefore, if you encounter the first Talisman puzzles during Chapter 1 of Alone in the Dark, it is natural to get puzzled.

Alone in the Dark Chapter 1 Walkthrough- Location of the Talisman

The game begins with a cutscene where players initially get information about, Jeremy Hartwood and his sudden disappearance. As soon as they reach the house, they have to select their character to start the journey. Next, after some conversation and exploration, you will find your character roaming in the garage, where you will get the flashlight. Irrespective of your character selection, the story will take the same progression sequence. 

Along with the flashlight, the garage will give you the Kitchen Garden’s key. This will open the door to exit the location and reach the next destination: Kitchen Gaden. Explore the area and collect bullets. Turn right and you will reach the Conservatory. Enter the Green House and the giant tree can’t be missed. Give it a round to find the Housekeeper’s Key from the broken pot.

The door it opens will be found at the other side of the room, right side of the stairs. As you open the door, it will take you to the Laundry. Explore the area thoroughly and you will get healing potions and some other items. Collect them all and then make your way to the Kitchen & Preparation Room. This room has nothing to explore as such. So, get to the next area: Stair Hall.

From here make your way to Lottie’s Room upstairs. This is probably the first essential location that needs to be explored well, so you don’t miss two of the most essential items: the Piazza key and the Derceto floor plan. Keep exploring the house and eventually, you will find the location to use the key. As soon as you make your way through the Piazza, a cutscene will start.

After the cutscene, you will find yourself in the French Quarters. This location will give you scope to fight enemies for the first time, since the beginning. From the French Quarters, make your way down to leave the place, and while crossing the Courtyard, you have to take down two enemies. Once they are dead, exit the courtyard, but don’t forget to take the bullets.

Upon exiting the courtyard, players will discover the Spiritual Supply Shop Johnny The Conqueror. Pick up the resources from the trash can outside and enter the shop. Another cutscene will begin. Following the cutscene, you will receive Batiste’s Key Chain. 

Now, you choose to have some optional conversation with Batiste. If you are not interested, ignore him and get back to the courtyard and make your way to the balcony on the other side of the courtyard. Eventually, you will access the Seance Room. Explore the room and you will find the Talisman. Place it on the right socket on the table and this is the time to solve the puzzle.

Talisman Code Location- How to Figure Out the Exact Code

Talisman puzzles will become soon boring to players as the game will annoy them with lots of the same kind of puzzles. However, initially, the scenario must be different. Now that you have the Talisman, the game asks you to put the exact code. The question is where to find it?

If you are struggling enough with the code, you will be shocked to know how straightforward it is to find the code. Whether you are playing as Emily or Edward, open your Investigation Menu. Next, go to Talisman Schematic Clue and the code of the Talisman will be found at the bottom of the section. The code is 3-5-8. Don’t be too surprised to wonder when you get the clue. You have either picked it up with the Talisman or from the last page of Jeremy’s Notebook.

What’s the next confusion? How to put the code in the right sequence? That’s indeed puzzling. Anyway, don’t worry, we will help you with it as well. It has three separate moving parts and each has a number range set from 0-10. So, move the rings individually to set them to the respective number. The first circle will have the lowest number. The correct order is from the outside in. Put the outer ring to 3, the middle one to 5, and the inner one to 8, and the puzzle is solved.

As soon as the code is properly entered a ray of light will enter the room which will be followed by two cutscenes. Shortly after they end, again you will find yourself in Derceto.

These are the most important parts of Chapter 1 to understand to solve the puzzle. However, if you are new to survival horror games, it is better not to begin your journey in hard modes. Instead, choose the Modern difficulty. In this stage, the game will be merciful toward players and provide them with in-game guidance and hints to focus more on the story, than the fights. 

However, the Old School mode is not for beginners. This mode will give players the vibe of playing a survival horror game in the true sense. The game will become brutal and the only thing players can do here is to suffer without any complaint. Clues are not easily found and puzzle solutions will take more time.
