Ghost of Tsushima has no shortage of collectibles. With Shinto Shrines, Inari Shrines, Haikus, and Hot Springs, it can be quite a surprise to learn that there is an entirely hidden set of collectibles in the game. And they come with a trophy attached to their completion too!

The Hidden Altars in Ghost of Tsushima could easily sail under even the most trained samurai’s eye. But Tsushima means more than an island to Jin Sakai. It is an emotion.

Eyes as Sharp as Your Katana

Keep your eyes peeled for Ghost of Tsushima’s ultimate secrets.

Hidden Altars are all over Tsushima, but you only need to find ten of them to bag the Honor the Unseen trophy if you are seeking the Platinum for Ghost of Tsushima. They offer no rewards other than a few cool animations based on the location in which you find them.

However, their distinct locations and unique environments act as an homage to the island, its culture, people, and, in many cases, its legends. Jin simply needs to seek these locations out and bow to the signpost with a praying man on it. You can bow by swiping down on the touchpad.

If it’s done right, a unique animation based on the natural landscape should trigger, such as birds settling down on the signpost, fish jumping through water, and so on. This indicates that the Hidden Altar has been discovered. With this knowledge in mind, it’s time to go after that trophy.

All Hidden Altar Locations in Ghost of Tsushima

You will need to interact with ten Hidden Altars to unlock the trophy. While the ones listed here are the easiest to obtain, there are many others in the open world.

Burial sites for main characters are a good place to seek out Hidden Altars, although there is no guarantee that a character will always have one. Some of the Hidden Altars you can find in the first act of Ghost of Tsushima are below.

Grand Temple

Now would be a good time for some prayers.

The Grand Temple acts as a sort of central hub for the opening areas of the game, with a host of vendors and side quests to find. At the center is a giant statue of Buddha, which acts as a Hidden Altar. You will see leaves swirl around Jin as he bows down to it.

Kechi’s Fishing Village

A rare moment of peace and tranquility for Jin.

The Hidden Altar can be found on the docks facing the river once you clear the village of Mongols. The signpost is just off the wooden platforms. You will see fish jumping around in the river to signal that you have successfully discovered it.

Yoichi’s Crossroads

A place of many cherished memories.

Head southwest of Hiyoshi Springs to find a cemetery. The Hidden Altar is by some statues that are neatly arranged in rows. You can be sure of the collection once you see fireflies appear around Jin.

Kashine Hills

Good for some great captures.

Head to where Kashine Hills is marked on your map to find a pond with a shrine and Hidden Altar next to it. Once again, fireflies appear around Jin as soon as he bows to the altar.

Tadayori’s Rest

Pay homage to the man, the myth, the legend.

During the Legend of Tadayori Mythic Tale, Jin comes across Tadayori’s Grave, a beautiful garden with purple flowers. At the center of this garden is a small shrine which is the Hidden Altar. A gust of wind makes purple leaves swirl around Jin as soon as he collects this one.

Komatsu Cemetery

A quiet moment of introspection awaits Jin here.

Take the road east out of Komatsu Forge to find a cemetery. The Hidden Altar is at the three giant statues at the top of a small staircase. Blue butterflies fly around Jin when he bows in front of the altar. The next few Hidden Altars can be acquired fairly easily in Ghost of Tsushima’s second act.

Omi Village

This game has stunning art style and vistas!

In the southeastern corner of the village is a pier facing Omi Lake. Fish jumping in the river once Jin bows down is a sign of success.

Sakai Family Sparring Circle

Back to where it all began.

Once you return to Jin’s estate, head on over to where he had his sparring lessons with Lord Shimura back in the day. There is a dock at the back of the sparring circle overlooking the water, almost perfectly south of the altar at Omi Village. Jin will see a gust of wind carry some red leaves around him as he bows at this altar.

Umugi Cove

You will need eagle eyes to spot this one.

In the southwest of Umugi Cove is a pier that is blocked by large boxes. Take a closer look to find the Hidden Altar behind these boxes. Fish will jump around in the nearby water when Jin successfully discovers this one.

Kanazawa Fishing Village

Enjoy the peace and quiet before the Mongols come along.

To the south of where Old Kanazawa Marsh is marked on the map is a small fishing village. Head along the pier to find this Hidden Altar, letting the river’s fish signal that you have successfully collected it.

Kanazawa Pillar of Honor

A secret within a secret!

In the same area as the last Hidden Altar is a Pillar of Honor hosting another of them. You will find it northeast of the Ijima Swamp. Fireflies surround Jin when he bows down to this one.
