Helldivers 2 is among the major hits of 2024. With its unique concept and gameplay mechanisms, this game has attracted the attention of players. Even after several controversies, Arrowhead successfully maintained a stable fanbase with its frequent updates. However, this fanbase recently faced a drastic downfall after a few of its strategies failed to attract the interest of the fans.

Helldivers 2 weapons and enemies have stopped attracting players for a long time. So players have been looking for exciting missions in the game to keep exploring the planets. But Arrowhead didn’t provide them with an up-to-mark mission in a while. However, a recent mission idea may save the game for now and help it regain its lost popularity.

Helldivers 2 Needs a Few Grand Mission Ideas to Survive

Helldivers 2 missions used to be attractive, but the recent ones failed to elevate the interest of players.

Missions have always been an integral part of Helldivers 2, and despite all the weapon nefs and other controversies, players keep playing the game for these missions. They took players to different planets and helped them fight enemies to explore new locations. However, the latest Warbond, which includes a planet named Meridia, couldn’t match the expectations of the players.

Meridia used to be a peaceful planet, but last weekend, players landed on it and used the Dark Fluid to extinguish the super colony. However, the mission was too tough to complete, even at its lowest difficulty. It triggers the spawning of an endless swarm of flying bugs that have killed the Helldivers uncountable times. Therefore, naturally, players got frustrated and quit the mission.

After the recent disaster, a Helldiver posted about a mission, saying that this may be the next idea the developers should consider. He named it the Capture the Facility mission, where players will be tasked with forming a group of four and descending on a facility where the Automaton enemies are creating anarchy and destruction.

According to the player, the group should capture different points of the facility and then go for the central point. This mission will also involve hordes of bots trying to defend the facility, and capturing each point will allow the Helldivers to extract using the extraction shuttle and get XP to level up. This idea sounds interesting, though there’s no news of Arrowhead considering this one for its upcoming mission.

Missions Are Not the Only Reason for Helldivers 2 Losing Players

Arrowhead’s consistent ignorance of players’ demands has created frustration among them.

When it comes to players quitting Helldivers 2, we can’t blame the missions as the only reason. It is, of course, one of the reasons for fans losing interest in the game, but several other factors have contributed significantly to this downfall.

One of the primary reasons that lots of players pointed out is that the game revolves around the same planets. Though Helldivers 2 has over 100 planets to explore, the game has restricted the movement of the players to only a few planets, which, after a certain point, becomes boring.

The next thing that players have expressed as a potential reason is nerfing the weapons. While the game had a few powerful weapons during launch, the updates afterward have nerfed most of them, which eventually made the enemies powerful and the fights more frustrating than ever. Well, that’s something that players have pointed out again and again whenever guns got nerfed.

According to the players, the final reason for this lower player count is the same enemy factions. Players have been fighting the same enemy factions for months. So, these fights have become boring. However, Arrowhead didn’t consider bringing a new enemy faction, which ultimately resulted in their quitting the game.

Well, ups and downs are part of survival. Almost every game suffers through these phases, and Helldivers 2 is going through the same. It’s completely up to the developers to revive their fanbase with something magical. In the meantime, you shouldn’t miss the latest Shadow of the Erdtree update, where players have been excited about a new weapon. This weapon is assumed to bring Messmer’s doom.
