LEGO Fortnite is a completely different world in Fortnite. If you are a battle royale fan but also love playing survival games, Epic Games has blended all in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1. In LEGO Fortnite, players are taken to a hostile survival world where everything they have to build from scratch. For veteran players, this may not be a hard task to set up their base, but newbies will certainly find it challenging. 

LEGO Fortnite is based on building. As soon as they spawn, they have to start gathering resources and building necessary tools and structures, including a shelter. Though the game will tag you with a Lego companion to give you clues about what to do and teach you some basics, still new players may find it tough to survive in the world. Considering it as a troublesome issue, we are preparing this beginner’s guide for players who have never played survival or sandbox games. 

Create Your World

The LEGO Fortnite mode is inside Fortnite. Once you launch the game and come to the lobby, scroll down to find LEGO Fortnite. As you start, your avatar will automatically generate, but you have to create your world. So, first, click on the ‘Select World’ option, and after the loading process is done, click on “Create.” When the “New World Slot” screen appears, click on “Select.”

Up to this, the process is a general thing, but you must be careful about the next section as it is the customization part and based on that your game will be considerate or brutal to you. As the next screen comes, you can choose the game mode, and cover image and customize some features like enemies, hunger, stamina, temperature, and whether you will die in the game or not. Make sure to choose them carefully as players can’t change these once they start. 

Collect Resources and Food

Once your world is ready and you have spawned there, the first thing you need to do is to finish your interaction with the NPC and start collecting wood and granite. These the the vital resources that you will need at every step from a few moments later. Don’t worry, these two resources can be found randomly on the ground. If you are a PC player, press ‘E’ to gather wood and granite. Otherwise, start hitting the white trunk trees to gather wood.

While focusing on these two core resources, don’t neglect another primary condition of survival: food. You will see berries and pumpkins all over the world. Pick them up and eat them to avoid hunger and boost your stamina. Alternatively, you can just stock them up for the future. Now that you have gathered the resources, let’s move towards the next steps.

Build Shelter to Survive the Changing Weather Conditions

LEGO Fortnite has a proper day-night cycle and weather cycle. Players will spawn during the day, but gradually the night will come. Night can be stormy and rainy, where the temperature falls. So, the first thing you must do is to place the campfire and then start building a shack. To do this, you must access the ‘Build’ menu. Press ‘Q’ to open the build menu (on PC). A simple shack requires lots of wood. So make sure you have enough wood in your inventory.

Also, unless you have your weapons ready, stay close to the campfire and your NPC companion. These will save you from hostile enemies and cold temperatures at night.

Build a Crafting Bench

As you craft the campfire, the workbench recipe will immediately unlock. It will require 3x wood and 5x granite to be built. Once you place the workstation, you can start crafting the basic axe and pickaxe. By the way, remember to build the workbench under a shelter. Otherwise, you can’t work in the rain.

Once the crafting bench is ready, you can gather more resources to update the bench and unlock new recipes. But it will take some time. However, in the meantime, you can build a Lumber Mill. 

Start Getting Villagers

This is another vital thing you must do. Once you have set up your base, with a shack and a crafting bench, you will get the Village Square recipe. Though the Village Square doesn’t seem to be an important part, it is essential if you want to give your village a lively touch.

Building a Village Square will attract villagers whom you can convince to stay with you. These villagers will bring several recipes and other benefits. Furthermore, having a Village Square will establish your base as a village and mark it on the map. Now, if you travel to other biomes for exploration, you can check the location of your village on the map and return without getting lost.

Additional Tips to Survive

  • While building your village, crafting tools, or exploring the world, ensure you keep on checking the meters in the top left corner. These will show you the hunger level, stamina, and other survival meters. 
  • Make sure you have your touch when you are navigating in the dark. These require vines to be built. Eat Pumpkins or Corn to gather vines.
  • When you are exploring the world, look for the rainbow color butterflies. These may take you to chests to get valuable loot. But watch out if they are leading you to bandit camps. 
  • The game has extreme temperatures. While the desert biome is extremely hot, the temperature freezes in the snow biome. To adapt and survive in these biomes you must carry Charms with you.
  • The NPCs (villagers) are amazing fighters and trustworthy companions. So, whenever, you are going for an exploration, take anyone with you. It will help you fight even formidable enemies. 
  • If you have built a structure in the wrong place and want to move it, simply break it and you will get back all the raw materials. Use them to build it again in your desired location.
  • If you are a Fortnite player, Supply Drops are common to you. Even LEGO Fortnite has them. Occasionally, Supply Drops will come to deliver essential items.
  • If you are running out of space in your shack, stack up chests. Place a small chest and place a tile on it. Now, place another small chest on the tile and break the tile. The second chest will fall on the first chest. It will save space.

These are some essential tips and steps that a beginner should do if they want to have a smooth experience in LEGO Fortnite.
