“10 years from now it’s gonna be a whole terabyte”: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Is Going to Kill Your Console’s Memory With Record-Breaking File Size That Even GTA 6 Won’t Manage
Another Call of Duty controversy has emerged.
One of the most-awaited Call of Duty games is on its way to release within a few months. After Modern Warfare 3, players have been excitedly waiting for Black Ops 6, but as soon as the release date of the game was announced, another piece of related information made things a bit complicated for the players. This can even be a barrier for many players to play the game.
The game is set to release worldwide on October 25, 2024. During Microsoft’s Xbox Showcase event, lots of necessary information about the game was revealed, including its size on Xbox. The gigantic space this upcoming game will take has surprised fans to a great extent. The game is surpassing GTA 6 in size.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Creates Controversies Among Players Even Before the Game Is Released
It’s time to prepare your console and PC for the upcoming Call of Duty game because its gigantic size can overload your system. Generally, Call of Duty games are a little big in size. That’s a tradition, but none ever crossed 300 GB at launch. Well, Black Ops 6 is going to break this record with its 309.8 GB size on day one on the Xbox X/S Series.
So, this is going to be the biggest Call of Duty game in the franchise’s history, with the size going to expand as updates come in the future. Despite the fact that there’s no information about how much space the game is going to take on other platforms, it’s easily assumed that the size difference won’t be a lot.
Though players are pretty used to games taking around 100GB at launch, a game taking 300GB on the first day is not a joke, and they are not too fond of the size.
Some players declared that they are not going to sacrifice other games for this.
Out of frustration, players even asked the series to launch its separate console.
GTA 6 will reportedly be around 200 GB, so fans even consider that this huge file size can only be considerable for GTA 6.
However, there are more interesting updates about Black Ops 6 that, to some extent, contributed to the anger of the fans.
Black Ops 6 Can’t Be Played Without a Steady Internet Connection
Since the Xbox Showcase event has confirmed the release date and size of the game on Xbox consoles, subsequent updates have arrived on the official Activision Support website declaring several other features that would be required to play the game on consoles, and among them, the requirement of a constant internet connection is the most interesting one.

On the website, the developers have directly claimed that all the game modes, including single-player campaigns, need to have a stable internet connection to be played. Of course, this decision is not a random one, but Activision has clearly stated its intention behind this stable internet connection decision.
“To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes. This means you’ll need a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign.”
Controversies are never-ending, especially when it comes to renowned franchises. So, while waiting for Black Ops 6, you should not miss how Rocksteady Studios is planning its comeback after the massive downfall of its highly hyped game of this year.
