How to Complete Hostile Takeover Act 1, Tier 5 Mission in MW3 Zombies

Missions are an integral part of the game, giving players rewards, XP, and a clear understanding of the story. These missions have never been impossible but consist of simple tasks that sometimes look confusing. MW3 Zombies maintain this tradition well. While thrilling bosses and different rewards are two primary reasons behind its massive success, one can’t ignore the missions. The Zombies mode has the most thrilling missions to complete and Hostile Takeover is among them. Below are the mission objectives:
- Loot 3 safes
- Kill 50 enemies while drilling safes
These objectives are easy to complete and indicate how to complete them. However, things may not be as simple as they seem, especially for the new players. But don’t worry, we have discussed every detail in this guide.
Best Method to Complete the Hostile Takeover Mission in MW3 Zombies
Now, that you are clear about what to do, it’s time to check how to do it. In MW3 Zombies, safes that can be drilled are only located in the Merchinary Strongholds or Raid Weapon Stash contract locations. So, these are the locations to begin with this mission.
First, discuss the easy one. Raid Weapon Stash contracts are the easiest way to locate a drillable safe. Open your tac-map and look for the Raid Weapon Stash contracts. They are marked on the map with a blue icon. We recommend finding the closest one but make sure it is located in a low threat zone. Travel to the location and you will find the locked safe inside it. If you want, you can do three Raid Weapon Stash contracts to complete the quest.
Alternatively, you can look for the Mercenary Strongholds. These locations are rich in loot but are much more dangerous than the first locations. Also, you can’t randomly enter these locations. First, you need to find the key.
Mercenary Stronghold key can be found in two ways- first, you can locate a mercenary camp and convoy and travel to the location. These locations are full of enemies, but fortunately, these are low-level enemies. Once you clear the area, at the center of the area, you will get a chest containing the keycard. If this doesn’t seem right, there’s another way to get Mercenary Stronghold keys. Locate a Buy Station and purchase the keycard. It requires 2000 Essence to get a keycard. So, purchasing three requires 6000 Essence. The price is indeed shocking but that’s the safest way to get a stronghold keycard. But that requires lots of grinding to get enough Essence to get all the Keycards. However, it’s your choice how you want to have a stronghold keycard.
Once you get the Keycard, locate a Mercenary Stronghold and start clearing it. It’s best if you target one in a low-threat zone. If you go to a high-threat zone, the enemies will give you a harder time killing them. In the mercenary stronghold, at one corner, you will locate the safe that you must drill. Once you reach the safe and start drilling, it’s time to start the next task. Enemies that you have killed before starting the drilling process, won’t count in the mission. Let me tell you another thing, in this mission, you will start with the first objective, but it will finish later. The second objective will be completed first.
As you clear the base and attach the drill, it will take some time to open the chest. In the meantime, you can see a bar on your screen indicating the drill percentage. This is the time when you have to kill enemies to complete the second objective. Reinforcements will come in the stronghold that you can kill while the drilling process is on to increase your kill count.
If you are doing it at a Raid Weapon Stash, you must start the drilling process and then start roaming around the location to attract the zombies. As long as the drilling process goes on, both Mercenaries and Zombies will be counted in the 50 kills. When the drilling is done and the safe is open, go and loot it. Repeat the same process two more times to complete the Hostile Takeover mission. Let me tell you, 50 kills are nothing impossible. Rather you may get it even before you start drilling the third safe.

Another thing to note here is that if you are targeting Mercenary Strongholds, it is better to take at least one teammate. Mercenary Strongholds have shielded enemies and numerous mercenaries to deal with. Once both objectives are done, mark the closest exfil point and board the chopper safely to leave the session. Don’t get killed before that.
Rewards For Completing Hostile Takeover Mission in MW3 Zombies
Rewards are the main attraction of any mission. No matter how much thrilling a mission is, everything fades away, if the rewards are not good. So, Activision prepared rewards for every mission and XP is included in all. Once you complete the Hostile Takeover mission, you will get the following items:
- Masked and Angry Weapon Charm
- 1500 XP
These will be added to your inventory instantly. While Weapon Charms are indeed great rewards to get, XP surpasses it every time. So, if you are trying to level up to unlock new perks, go for this mission and get 1500 XP.
