How to Get Nightshade in Hades 2 (and How to Use It)
This is one plant you don't want to miss.
Resources are a crucial part of the new gameplay mechanics introduced in Hades 2. There is a wide variety of them, each serving a specific purpose in the narrative and found in varying ways.
Their uses and locations create a lot of work for Melinoë, but the rewards they offer make the effort worth it. Nightshade is one such reward that gives a significant improvement to her arsenal of weapons and attacks that can offset the effort it may take her to obtain it.
It’s Time for Some Gardening
Nightshade can be elusive to new players in Hades 2 if they don’t know where to look. The most important information you need to know is that it does not grow on its own anywhere in the Underworld or on the Surface. It needs to be cultivated.

However, Melinoë must first perform an Incantation and craft a special tool required to obtain Nightshade Seeds. The latter is very easy to obtain, requiring that she take 10 Silver to the Training Room. The Flourishing Soil incantation requires Moly, which can be found in Erebus. It unlocks usable soil plots to cultivate plants on. With everything you need to cultivate Nightshade in place, it’s time to grow your first plant.

The next step is to obtain some Nightshade Seeds from random dirt platforms that spawn in Erebus. Make sure to equip the Silver Spade before you begin your run. With the seeds in your possession, simply interact with one of your Soil plots to plant them.
You will then need to clear five encounters to give the plant enough time to grow. Interact with the plot to collect it. You now possess it and are ready to use it!

Nightshade is useful in many ways. For instance, it is required for the Doomed Beckoning and Floral Fortune Incantations, which unlock Moros and the Crossroads Pawn Shop, respectively.
However, one of Nightshade’s most important uses is as an ingredient in the Aspects of Night and Darkness Recipe that Melinoë receives from Headmistress Hecate after she unlocks and uses all five Nocturnal Arms from the Silver Pools.
This recipe is crucial to expanding Melinoë’s arsenal of attacks as it unlocks Weapon Aspects, permanently adding powerful special attacks to each weapon. It requires a single Nightshade plant and 5x Bronze to perform and can significantly influence future runs through the Underworld or Surface.
Aspects can be upgraded at the Silver Pools with enough resources. Each Nocturnal Arm has three Aspects with up to five levels of upgrades to increase its damage output.
Note that Nightshade may find further uses down the line as the game moves out of early access to its final release. New Nocturnal Arms and Aspects may also find their way to Hades 2, which makes storing a little Nightshade away a smart choice. You could also trade in Nightshade at the Pawn Shop for 10 Bones each in a pinch.
