How to Get the Dog Bone in MW3 Zombies
In MW3 Zombies, there are plenty of unlockable items and equipment that players must find to enjoy the gameplay to the fullest. From Wonder Weapons to Classified Items, the list has multiple powerful items to mention, and Dog Bone is one of them. Among the three Classified Items the game introduced this season, Dog Bone is among them. Being one of the most powerful equipment in the game, the acquiring process is not straightforward. Players must go through a specific process to acquire the Dog Bone. Therefore, if you are still confused about the location and trying to figure out how to get Dog Bone in MW3 Zombies, this guide will give you a complete walkthrough.
What is a Dog Bone in MW3 Zombies?
It is always vital to gather information about an item before you start looking for it. Its use defines whether the effort is worth it or not. So, before you start looking for a Dog Bone, let’s check why you should have it. If you have a Dog Bone with you, it will help you in both offense and defense. Players can use the Dog Bone any time to call a level 3 Hell Hound. This Hell Hound will follow you throughout the game and fight the zombies until their health is drained out. If you are a solo player, nothing can be better than having a Hell Hound companion.
Even if you are playing with your squad, still the Dog Bone will help you. Once you call the Hell Hound, it not only fights the enemies, but it will revive your injured teammates. On top of everything, the Hell hound will start to heal automatically when it is not taking damage.
Now that you have got the benefits of having a Dog Bone, let’s check where you can have it.
Where to Find Dog Bone in MW3 Zombies?
If you have been playing MW3 Zombies for a long time, you must be aware of the location of the classified items: The Dark Aether. None of the classified items can be found randomly anywhere. They must be crafted using their respective schematics. So, the first thing you need to know to get the Dog Bone is how to open the Dark Aether Rift.
The Dark Aether Rift can only be opened if you place exact items on the exact pedestals. Also, these items are not easy to collect. Most importantly, you can’t permanently have them in your inventory to use them repeatedly. So, every time you want to open the rift; you have to collect the four keys and the Elder Sigil. The four keys include A Locked Diary, A Pill Bottle, A Surveillance Camera, and a Dog Collar.
To get the Locked Diary, complete the Act 4 Bad Signal mission and you will get the item as a reward. That’s the only way to have it. Pill Bottle can be found by killing a Cyst inside Aether Nests, using a Brain Rot Ammo Mod. Finding the Surveillance Camera requires kind of the same process. Players must destroy a Harvester Orb while having a Dead Wire Ammo Mod equipped with the weapon. Finally, if you are looking for a Dog Collar, the only way to have it is to kill a Hell Hound by placing meat and Molotov inside a Dog House.
After getting these items, you must upgrade them to Gold rarity and then proceed to find the key item to activate the rift: An Elder Sigil. This item is not easy to get, as an Elder Sigil can only be dropped from contracts that you complete in the high-threat zone. Also, the drop is random. So, no one can assure you how many contracts you must complete to get the item.
However, once all are acquired, activate the rift and step into the most dangerous realm of the game.
How to Get the Dog Bone Schematic in MW3 Zombies?
If you have entered Dark Aether before, you are well aware of the challenges this place provides. From tier 3 zombies to challenging bosses, the Dark Aether is filled with enemies everywhere. But you can’t ignore it as there’s no other way to get the Dog Bone Schematic. Players must complete three Dark Aether contracts to get the three Classified Schematics. Once you complete a contract, a reward rift will open to give you a schematic. But there’s a twist.
These schematics are random rewards. So, it’s impossible to say which contract will reward you with the Dog Bone schematic. It’s a pure luck-based reward. If you are lucky, you may get it by completing the first contract. Otherwise, you must complete the other two. In that case, we suggest completing all three contracts in one go.
This is much more challenging to do than say. Completing contracts in Dark Aether is not a joke. So, we recommend taking some friends with you to make the process a bit easier. As soon as you step inside the Dark Aether, you must ensure you won’t die unless you exfil with the schematics. If you die, you have to repeat the process, including opening the Dark Aether Rift. In that case, having a few teammates is always beneficial as they can help you in handling zombies and completing contracts.
Once you receive the schematic, your task doesn’t end there. In fact, the task only begins. You have to safely exfil with them. Dark Aether has two portals: one you can find on the top of the fortress and the other is located in the underground area of the central fortress. To reach these locations, you have to clear waves of zombies, and without any companion; it is almost impossible to do.
After successfully exfiling with the schematic, verify in your Classified section of inventory if the Dog Bone Schematic has been added or not. If it’s there, go to the Schematic Crafting tab and craft Dog Bone. But there’s a catch. There’s a 48-hour cooldown time. Precisely, if you craft a classified item, you can’t craft another one before 48 hours. So, choose your schematics wisely based on the ones you need the most.
