Where to Find Moss in Hades 2 (and How to Use It)
Don't avoid even the tiniest things in Hades 2. Maybe they are resources to craft powerful incantations!
Hades 2 is currently in early access, but the game has no shortage of resources to collect throughout the journey. During the journey, players will be taken to different locations to complete different activities like fighting enemies or completing objectives, but irrespective of what they do, players need to take care of the resources as they are key to survival. Moss is among those resources that players need at almost every step.
Moss is required for multiple reasons in the game. From crafting incantations to upgrading weapons, Moss is required for a bunch of activities in Hades 2. Therefore, finding it is nothing surprising. However, the trick here is that finding Moss is not easy. It will take hours of grinding. So, without wasting time, let’s jump into the process of getting Moss.
Where to Find Moss in Hades 2
If you have been progressing through the game, you must have realized that the in-game world, especially the boss encounters, is too challenging to survive if your character doesn’t have the best weapons and abilities. Of course, these abilities are not given by default. Instead, players have to craft and upgrade these skills and tools to make them powerful. Here comes Moss.
Though Moss doesn’t require any specific tool to be harvested, finding it is the main challenge. If you roam around cluelessly, it will only waste your time because Moss can only be found after you have unlocked access to the Surface. Yeah, Surface is not an area to access randomly. Initially, the Surface is locked by a magical seal, which can only be broken using the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation.
This incantation requires players to gather 1x Cinder, 1x Shadow, and 3x Moly and submit them to the cauldron in the Crossroads.
Performing this incantation will break the magical seal and make the Surface accessible. Now that you have unlocked the Surface, players need to make their way to the first city of the region, named City of Ephyra, to find Moss. Fortunately, Moss is not a rare item and can be found in plenty of numbers in the city. They can be found on the roads or inside houses. Standing on them will give players the option to harvest them.
Well, you should not be that unlucky to roam around for hours to get Moss on the Surface, but in case you want to explore the region, you must learn another incantation and use it to survive. Once you start exploring the Surface, you will feel the curse of Melinoe, which gradually lowers your health, preventing you from staying alive on the Surface for a long time. To get rid of this, perform Unraveling a Fateful Bond Incantation. Unfortunately, this can’t be done without Moss.
First, find some Moss; at least two Moss should be in your stock to survive on the Surface. Once you have the Moss, perform the incantation using 2x Lotus, 2x Moss, 2x Nightshade, and 2x Thalamus. Once this incantation is performed, players can freely roam around and explore the region without any worries.
How to Use Moss in Hades 2
After locating an ingredient, the first question that comes to mind is how to use it. So, there won’t be any exception when you get some Moss. This material is required for several activities, one of which we have already discussed. 2x Moss is required for crafting the Unraveling a Fateful Bond Incantation to remove Melinoe’s curse.
This is probably the most important use of Moss. However, there are a few more things, including weapon aspects and incarnations that require Moss to be crafted.
- First, Moss can be used to craft a weapon aspect named Aspect of Persephone for one of the strongest weapons of the game, the Argent Skull. This weapon aspect requires 1x Moss and 5x Poppy.
- Second, players can use Moss to craft the Observance of Gaia’s Secrets Incantation. It requires 7x Moss, 7x Moly, and 7x Lotus.
- The final incantation that can be crafted using Moss is Summoning a Colony of Bats Incantations. It requires 3x Moss and 3x Rubbish.
After all these usages, if you still have a few Moss left, trade them to Wretched Broker for some necessary items you need for your playthrough.
