Rise of the Ronin takes place in the middle of 19th Century Japan when the political situation is totally unstable. Team Ninja has created a thrilling gameplay out of it where often players will find references to some real events and persons. Though the storyline is thrilling, players still need some help to defeat the bosses and Genzui Kusaka is among them. Don’t panic if you haven’t yet figured out any way to deal with him. We are here to help you with all the required information.
Before going further into the fighting strategy, let’s check some important information about the boss, including the location.
Genzui Kusaka Location- How to Prepare for the Fight?
Like other bosses of the game, if players are curious about Genzui Kusaka, let me tell you, he can be found as part of a main story mission, named Cultural Exchange. This is a massive mission, divided into several parts and among them, one is called Take Back Hongakuji Temple. After players have defeated Jules Brunet, they will be assigned this mission which eventually leads them to another challenging fight.
Well, the location of Genzui Kusaka is tough to reach. As the mission begins, players will receive the objective which asks them to reach the main hall of the temple. The process seems to be a straightforward one, but the practical method is tough because the entrance to the temple is blocked. So, if you want to enter, you have to find an alternative method.
For that, first, locate the Observation Tower located close to the temple and climb to the top. From there start gliding towards the temple and once you are on the roof, find a broken part to reach the attic. Save the game manually before entering the attic. From the attic, make your way down to the main hall of the temple, where the boss is waiting for you.

Before, you jump down in the main hall and start the fight, players need to understand that, an aggressive attacking style won’t work here. The boss will take advantage of your vulnerability if you are not serious about your defense. So, the strategy will be a bit defensive. Additionally, gather some health potions from the banner, so that you can replenish your health whenever required.
How to Beat Genzui Kusaka in Rise of the Ronin- Tips and Tricks to Win the Battle
Genzui Kusaka is a bit tougher than other bosses you have faced until now. He is aggressive and attacks constantly in a way that seems to be a never-ending one. So, parry and dodge should be your best companions for most of the fight. However, in the meantime, observe his moves to learn his attacking techniques. This will help you plan your moves and combat style to survive until the end.
As soon as the fight begins, the boss will start attacking. Use parrying and dodging to deal with his regular attacks. Unfortunately, the boss has a range of attacks, including a deadly combo named Overhanded Combo. In this attack, the boss will hold both swords back behind his head before striking quickly four times. The attack ends with a quick dual-hit combo. This combo is one of the toughest ones to deal with and if players can’t prevent it, this combo attack will instantly end the fight.
The primary focus should be learning the time and moves for each attack, so players can instantly decide what to do to avoid it. Apart from this combo, the boss will launch another combo named Alternating Slashes. In this attack, the enemy launches a long sustained combo attack six times before finishing with an uppercut attack and a dual cut. This one is indeed a tough combo to parry, but less complicated than the previous one.
Both parrying and dodging these attacks require lots of practice. If you miss the time, the combo will hit and end your efforts. This is especially true for the Overhanded Combo. If you can’t press the counterspark button quickly in time, this attack will waste all your efforts. However, in most cases, the boss will turn red before he launches the attacks. This indicates that these attacks can’t be blocked. Even parrying them is challenging. So, it will be better to dodge them.
If players can successfully parry his attacks, the boss will become off-guard for a few moments. Use a gun or sword to land some critical hits to deal as much damage as possible. The boss has a great range, so, don’t try to close the gap between you two. Instead, use long-range weapons, if possible. Additionally, prepare some whetstones to inflict poison damage or burn damage to the enemy. Both these are effective against the boss as they damage over time.

If you still don’t find the fighting process suitable, try switching your allies. Allies play a vital role in fights and it is important to select allies carefully before fights to get the most benefits. Another thing that players need to know is that their combat style should be suitable to counter the boss’s attacks. As the fight starts, players will see an arrow next to the boss’s healthbar. If it is blue, the combat style you are using is effective against Genzui, but if it turns red, players need to change their combat style.
That’s everything players need to know before they start fighting Genzui Kusaka in Rise of the Ronin. This fight will take some time and it is better not to speed up the process. Take your time to understand the attacks of the boss and counter them accordingly. With time the boss will get weakened and you will get the chance to defeat him.
