Alone in the Dark Chapter 5 Walkthrough- Ruin the Ceremony
If you remember, Chapter 4 of the game ends with Jacob’s fight where defeating the enemy will take players back to the Conservatory to start the final journey. Once this journey begins, all the characters that you have encountered throughout your journey, including Jeremy, Dr. Gray, Ruth, Mags, Batiste, Lottie, MacCarfey, and Grace, will provide you with an opportunity to initiate three optional conversations with each of them.
Interacting with Dr. Gray and Jeremy will reveal that Jeremy is fine and your stab seems to have lobotomized him. With this conversation, players will unlock the Back to Normal Achievement. Now it’s time to progress toward the next actions. Come down from the balcony and you will find other characters there to interact. If you interact and initiate all the conversations available, you will earn the Chatterbox Achievement.
Once you are ready to continue, interact with the fountain and wait for your partner to arrive. Either Emily or Detective Carnby will arrive. As you wait for them, other members will urge Dr. Gray to start the ritual. Though initially, Dr. Gray seems hesitant, soon he will start the ceremony. Next, you will witness a unique and scary ceremony, where Grace will be hung on the big tree for sacrifice. Of course, that was her own will.
As the other members keep on chanting, the tree will start moving with Grace hanging on it. Your character will decide to help Grace, but Batiste prevents you. At this point, your partner will arrive and shoot Batiste. Next, your character will shoot MacCarfey to set Grace free. This will create an atmosphere of horror as everyone gets scared because the ceremony is ruined and now the unknown creature Black Goat of the Woods will kill everyone. The giant tree to get alive and leave the place.
This is where the cutscene ends, and players need to prepare to fight the final boss of the game.
Alone in the Dark- Black Goat of the Woods Fight
Finally, the moment to fight the last of the game arrives. As soon as the cutscene ends, collect ammo, health potions, and melee weapons. Once you are prepared for the fight, make your way to the roof and jump through the broken section of the roof. From there collect as many resources as possible and progress toward the Mezzanine. This is where you will encounter the boss.
Black Goat of the Woods, looks like an octopus with multiple tentacles. Mostly, the boss will use its tentacles to take players down and the range of the boss is pretty good. So, it is better to keep distance. The most common attack the boss will use is the slam attack, in which it will raise its tentacles in the air to launch the attack. Jump back whenever you see her doing this.

The fight is already enough challenging, so, we recommend not wasting ammo by firing randomly at the boss. The only parts where the boss gets damaged are the pustules. You will see them appearing on her head at the beginning. Keep shooting and eventually, the boss will collapse and make way for you to come down from the balcony. The balcony will collapse.
The fight won’t get much difficult, though, except for a new attack added to the boss’s part. Once you are in front of her, she will rise on her black legs to attack you. The best way to avoid her attacks is to keep running in the arena. If you stand still, the boss will easily target you. The movement will make things challenging for her.
The defeating process is still the same. Aim the ulcers on her body. At this point, players need to be aware of one thing when you shoot the ulcers, the boss will fall on the ground and monsters that you have already defeated during your journey will crawl out of her body. So, players need to deal with them as well to continue the fight. It is better if you use the Tommy Gun for the main boss fight, while pistols will work well against small enemies.
This fight will take some time and lots of ammo, but with proper strategy, players will take down the final boss of the game, which will lead them to the game’s final cutscene. The cutscene will show the house collapses and burns everything inside. Your character will join Jeremy and Grace outside the house and the group will begin a new journey toward New Orleans.
That’s the ending of the game and no matter how you progress as long as you complete all five chapters, you will reach this ending. Now if you have completed your journey as Emily, you will get Safe and Sound Achievement and if you have completed it as Edward, you will get Case Closed Achievement.
If you are not satisfied, begin the journey again with the other character. During the second playthrough, players can get a Secret Ending. As your characters revisit the locations during the second playthrough, they will eventually receive new Lagniappes to unlock the secret ending of the game.
