Alan Wake 2: The Lake House Star Talks About How It Was Working With Remedy and Sam Lake
The Alan Wake 2: The Lake House protagonist was impressed by how Remedy and Sam Lake approach game development.
- Alan Wake 2 received its second and final DLC, The Lake House, one week ago.
- The protagonist of the expansion spoke in detail about her time with Remedy and Sam Lake.
- Being an agent of the Federal Bureau of Control, Kiran Estevez can return for future projects.
Being one of the most successful video games to be released last year, Alan Wake 2 took the gaming world by storm thanks to its stellar storytelling and unique narrative approaches. But it would not have been possible for developer Remedy Entertainment to bring the story to life without the spectacular acting talent involved that helped the title feel like a realistically layered experience.
With its second DLC launched just a week ago, The Lake House star Janina Gavankar recently talked about how it was like working with the studio and, more specifically, the visionary behind it all, Sam Lake.
How Remedy Entertainment Stands Out Among Other Studios
A few days before the Alan Wake sequel celebrated its first anniversary, the developer shared multiple updates for the game, including footage showcasing its performance on the upcoming PS5 Pro and the launch of its second and final expansion.
Starting off her Alan Wake 2 debut as an NPC in the base game and a proper protagonist in The Lake House, Janina Gavankar, who plays Federal Bureau of Control Agent Kiran Estevez, discussed what makes Remedy Entertainment stand out among the other studios that she has worked with in the past.
“Everybody goes into Remedy and comes out even more invested than when they started,” stated Gavankar about what it was like working with the Finnish video game developer, continuing that director and the studio’s creative head, Sam Lake, is a major part of the reason why the company’s unlike any other.
“He’s just as wonderful as he is weird,” said Gavankar about Lake, looking back at her time with the likes of Summerfall Studios and Luminous Productions to clarify the differences she felt while working with the Alan Wake studio. Calling Lake “a maestro,” Gavankar continued that the level of enthusiasm and energy that the creative director exerts toward his projects is extraordinary, stating that he is thankfully “not a star f***er.”
Janina Gavankar Wants to Continue Working With the Developer After Alan Wake 2
Considering that all of Remedy Entertainment’s games, including the upcoming spin-off FBC Firebreak, are connected and part of the same universe, the inclusion of Agent Kiran Estevez in future projects does not seem too far-fetched.
Fortunately, it turns out that Janina Gavankar enjoyed her time working with the studio so much that she is more than willing to return for future titles, saying that someone needs to tell Sam Lake “how perfectly seamlessly” her character “fits into everything.”
“We get along very well, me and Remedy,” admitted Gavankar regarding the unconventional approach to storytelling, thanks to which the developer has made a name for itself.
It would definitely be interesting to see if Lake and the team actually bring the character back in some shape or form, especially given the multiplayer nature of Firebreak and how it revolves around the FBC.
