Batman Arkham Shadow was released on October 21.

Batman Arkham Shadow was initially announced in May 2024. However, at the end of the day, it was clearly declared that this is going to be a VR-exclusive game where players must look for the main antagonist, Rat King.

Even after these developments, the initial reception for this game was unfavorable, primarily due to its VR exclusivity. Before the game was released on October 21, 2024, it came with certain updates, including one that concerns one renowned Hollywood actor.

This 43-year-old American actor has numerous popular works in his possession, but he is widely renowned for his work in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films. He used to play the part of Frodo Baggins.

On October 19, the production director at Camouflaj, Matt Walker, and studio head and game director Ryan Payton, appeared for a Q&A video where they were asked about the design of Proto-Scarecrow Dr. Jonathan Crane, and in reply, Ryan Payton revealed that this role is played by widely renowned actor Elijah Wood.

This is a complete shift, from a protagonist in Lords of the Rings to an antagonist in Batman Arkham Shadow, but the game director cleared that since the first day, the team had only this name in mind without any backup plan.

The Batman: Arkham games are always satisfying with enjoyable gameplay and wonderful graphics. However, the best part is the portrayal of Gotham City. While this vibe was introduced in Batman: Arkham Asylum, the latest VR game is set before it.

This is a decision that the developers made to let players experience a younger Batman, who’s pretty vulnerable to succumbing to pressure.

So, the antagonist will be a vital part, and Camouflaj expressed it had only Elijah Wood in mind when it came to Scarecrow’s characterization. About this, Wood placed his opinion, where he revealed that he was “super intrigued for a few reasons.

As a Batman fan, the notion of the upcoming game being made in VR made him curious. Additionally, he confirmed it’s his first work with motion capture, and that’s also portraying an iconic character like Dr. Jonathan Crane.

He concluded by saying that while he wants all the fans to play the game, he himself is equally excited to experience it as a Batman fan.
