SUMMARY
  • Sabrina Carpenter's song was introduced to Fortnite, but the emote was immediately withdrawn.
  • The emote was good, but one specific feature made it face criticism from Fortnite players.
  • However, Epic Games assured fans that it will add it once again after fixing the emote.

Fortnite wouldn’t be exciting without the cosmetic items and emotes. Indeed, they don’t give players any extra facilities during the battles, but these make the in-game avatars unique. Since this battle royale was launched, Epic Games has specifically taken care of the outfits and emotes to maintain the craze among fans. However, sometimes these cosmetic items even brought huge protests from the fans’ side.

Sabrina Carpenter is a popular singer with several hits in possession. Therefore, Epic Games’ thought of bringing an emote based on her most popular song wasn’t very unexpected. However, the reaction was unanticipated, which caused the developer to withdraw it within a day.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso Received a Massive Negative Welcome From Fortnite Fans

Epic Games withdrew one controversial emote from Fortnite within a day of its release.

This is not the first time Fortnite added some new celebrity emotes to the game. Often the developer brings emotes and outfits based on popular songs and characters. Generally, players love to use these unique moves, but the Espresso emote pointed out a different scenario.

For Sabrina fans, Espresso is one of the songs that dominated the entire summer. Therefore, aside from social media, if they get a chance to experience this song with the moves in Fortnite, that shouldn’t be a bad idea.

At this point, when Fortnite players are looking forward to getting Fortnitemares, leaks about the emote had been circulating for a while, especially since the song was featured in the Festival mode and the Reload trailer.

Proving these rumors right, on October 17, 2024, this emote was added to the Fortnite Item Shop. But the welcome was not as it was expected. Fans started slamming this emote as soon as they saw it.

The primary thing that disappointed players about this emote was that it was a sped-up version of the song.

A significant number of players commented that the song was too fast and didn’t seem like the original one that they had listened to throughout the year. This backlash was too heavy to tackle, and Epic Games almost immediately responded to this matter.

Epic Games Officially Removed the Espresso Emote Within 24 Hours

Fortnite fans love the cool moves that emotes generally provide them with.

In the game’s seven-year journey, hardly any emote received this treatment. This year, Epic Games has released a few exciting emotes, including one that players were wanting for a long time. Anyway, like always, Epic Games responded promptly.

As soon as the negative comments started filling up Reddit and X about this specific Espresso emote, the developer published a note on the game’s official X account, stating that it was removing the disputed emote temporarily from the Item Shop.

Well, as the statement said, the emote will come back, and Epic will notify players about its return. However, nothing particularly was mentioned about the fix or the return.

This quick response from Epic Games has impressed fans a lot. They are overwhelmed by seeing that the developer removed the emote within a day to fix it.

When the emote will again make its way to the game isn’t yet clarified. But fans want the developer to slow down the speed so it will look better when it appears again.

This shows fans weren’t against the emote, but they were angry because of the speed.
