After two years of a successful run, Elden Ring's in-game world got an adorable 3D replica by a fan, which most players never expected to see.
- Elden Ring fans are still obsessed with The Lands Between's massive open world, and this is leading them to create replicas.
- The latest 3D replica of The Lands Between has garnered huge popularity among the community.
- However, the creator revealed that it was hard to create this miniature world because of some obvious challenges.
Elden Ring players haven’t yet gotten over the thrill that FromSoftware presented them with. The massive open world of Elden Ring is indeed appreciable, but die-hard fans are not satisfied with it. They want more, and this hunger has led one fan to spend long hours working on some out-of-the-box ideas and creating something that probably no one ever expected to receive.
Over the years, among the games FromSoftware has made, Elden Ring is one of the best for sure. While the developer took five years to create the open world of the game, one die-hard fan crafted its adorable miniature version, working on it for around 500 hours.
Elden Ring Fan Created a Low-Poly Map of The Lands Between in 500 Hours
Since Elden Ring was released, players have always admired The Lands Between, especially the way it balances danger and exploration. However, it seems like Hidetaka Miyazaki’s biggest project got a more captivating version of the in-game world.
Now, there’s a low-poly version of the map that fans can praise. A dedicated fan has thought to create a miniature 3D version of the map.
On the subreddit of Elden Ring, honzaap shared his latest creation, and almost instantly, it went viral among Elden Ring players. His mention of spending 500 hours creating this low-poly style map also drew the attention of fans.
This process was tough and full of challenges. During one interview about this 3D replica of The Lands Between, honzaap revealed that he spent around 470 hours just to make the map model.
To explain how he used the remaining time, he expressed, “I also included the time I needed to set it up for display on a web page, since I can’t just put the entire model there.”
Further, he elaborated on the challenges he faced during this project and how he designed this 3D model almost perfectly. As his statement continued, it eventually revealed that the city of Leyndell was the hardest to recreate.
The Creator Expressed His Motivation and Technical Difficulties During the Project
Despite Elden Ring having multiple things that the lore didn’t clarify during the playthrough, the world design never faced any negative response. Therefore, this is not the first time a fan tried recreating this massive open world of the game.
Previously, Konstantin Chemelev did the same on Sketchfab and named it “Tiny Elden Ring.” Bringing this reference, honzaap revealed that it worked as a motivation for him, as he wanted to see how the whole world would look in the low-poly style.
To progress with his idea, the creator used a top-down view of the original map on the lostgamer.io website. Still, this was tough, as a lot of things are one-time designs that couldn’t be used the second time. All the castles and dungeons need to be separately designed.
Aside from that, placing hundreds of trees and rocks was also something challenging. Even most of the city designs are complex, as he continued,
“Azula is the most unique out of the locations so my usual methods didn’t really work. Caelid has so much stuff and is also kinda bumpy, which made it hard to make.“
Overcoming all these challenges, he finally developed the 3D model of The Lands Between, where he personally prefers the low-poly design of Raya Lucaria Academy.
