PlayStation’s Biggest State of Play Reveal 20 Years in the Making Got Leaked Ahead of Time
After two decades of deep slumber, the Legacy of Kain series is waking up with the remastered versions of its Soul Reaver installments.
- PlayStation State of Play brought loads of remastered games, but no-one expected to see Legacy of Kain among them.
- After a successful run with five installments, this series suddenly ended its journey in 2003.
- This time, it is Aspyr that is bringing Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1-2 Remastered.
PlayStation held one of the most exciting State of Play events. Expectedly, this event showcased loads of exciting upcoming games, with some less exciting remaster versions, but a few hours before the State of Play, one completely unexpected update arrived, claiming one series is about to make a return after a twenty-year pause.
As the year is going toward an end, developers are opening their buckets to share the most exciting updates that they have kept secret from fans all along. However, twenty years is a long gap, and most newcomers haven’t probably heard of the Legacy of Kain series. As shown even by the leaks before the event, this series is about to reclaim its position with an upcoming remaster.
Ahead of PlayStation State of Play, Gamers Got a Huge Surprise That No One Expected
Legacy of Kain used to be a popular action-adventure series by Crystal Dynamics, which first launched in 1996. After that, it continued the journey with four successful installments. However, Crystal Dynamics suddenly stopped the series with the launch of Legacy of Kain: Defiance in 2003.
Since then, this series has had no update for two decades. A slight hint of its return was given at San Diego Comic-Con back in July, but the poster was almost immediately taken down. Once again, the update came to the surface with a short trailer a few hours before the State of Play.
Wario64 shared this brief trailer on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, with a few more important details. It is going to be the remastered version of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2.
The trailer revealed that the game will officially be launched on December 10, but currently, players can start pre-ordering it if they are willing to experience the “epic conflict of Kain and Raziel in original form.”
This game is coming to celebrate Soul Reaver’s 25th anniversary, and the remastered version is being developed by Aspyr, the developer behind Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1-2 Remastered Has Stirred the Gaming Community After Decades of Silence
Ahead of PlayStation’s State of Play, numerous leaks and rumors had been circulating in the air, including Resident Evil 9 making an appearance at the event. However, not everything was true, as the event showed a few expected trailers with some unexpected ones.
Surpassing everything else, the return of the Legacy of Kain series has created a separate excitement, as it has enlightened the hope to enjoy the two classic gaming experiences in a new way with improved graphics and gameplay mechanics. Players didn’t even try to hide their love for this series.
After watching the trailer, the level of excitement reached so high that players couldn’t control their emotions.
The reactions are all positive, and most players expressed that the remastered version is about to end their wait for diving into the Legacy of Kain series once again.
Remastered versions don’t usually satisfy gamers like the original games.
However, after two decades of waiting, hopefully, players won’t be disappointed with this remastered version.
