The Concord Woes Continue as Physical Edition Players Are Having a Hard Time With Refunds
Concord has already been taken down from the gaming market, but it seems like the issues don't end there, as players are even struggling to get a refund.
- Concord created resentment among fans, but Sony never thought it would incline to the level it reached.
- Players completely boycotted the game, which caused it to be taken down from the market.
- Now, at this point, players who have purchased the physical edition of the game are struggling to get their money back.
PlayStation is currently going through a unique state where one of its latest released games couldn’t even survive eight weeks after being developed for eight years. Concord servers have officially shut down on September 6, but players don’t seem to be upset about that. Instead, they are worried about something else.
When Sony announced the withdrawal of Concord, it confirmed that players who had purchased the game would get a refund. No matter what platform they have purchased or whatever edition they were playing, everyone will receive their money back. However, it seems like this process is not going easy for the players who purchased the physical edition of the game.
Concord Controversies Are Still Going on With Players Not Receiving Refunds
Since Concord’s trailer was launched during PlayStation’s State of Play event, it was pretty clear that fans didn’t have a positive attitude toward the game. However, Sony probably didn’t expect it to reach the height where they not only avoided playing the open beta but even the official game as well.
Released on August 23, Concord was announced to be pulled off from the gaming market on September 6. This game not only underperformed on PS5, but even on Steam.
Therefore, to work further on the game, Sony officially shut it down for an indefinite time. However, the issue now has come to the refund process.
While every Concord player should get a refund, gamers on Reddit complained that they purchased the physical edition of the game, and when they visited the store they purchased the game from, it denied the refund. Even calling customer service didn’t work for them.
Though not many similar issues were reported, it seems that while players who purchased the digital editions got their refunds easily in their wallets, things have been tough for physical edition players.
Concord and Astro Bot: Why the Former Pathetically Failed
While it should be a great month for PlayStation, players’ different receptions of these two games have made things complicated. While the first-person shooter had a disastrous launch, the cute, 3D platformer was welcomed with loads of hopes and hype.
Despite being the sequel to PlayStation’s exclusive free-to-play game, Astro’s Playroom, Astro Bot isn’t a free game. Still, players didn’t hesitate to dive into the game. This colorful platform game has won the hearts of the fans since the first glimpse.
On the other hand, Concord belonged to one of the most popular gaming genres, first-person hero-shooter, but still, it failed pathetically as players noticed loads of similarities with other popular games in the same genre. For example, they claimed the characterization resembled Destiny 2 and Overwatch. The colorful environment was designed like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Comparing these two things, it seems that the uniqueness of Astro Bot worked for it. But the resentment against Concord was so high that in two weeks, the game only sold as few as 25,000 units, with only an all-time peak of 697 concurrent players on Steam.
This hero-shooter game has surpassed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, another disastrous title of 2024, with its worse performance.
