Saber Interactive Calls Space Marine 2 “The True Ultimate Space Marine Experience”
Space Marine 2 could turn out to be something truly special for Saber Interactive and Warhammer 40K fans.
- As the Space Marine 2 release date finally gets closer, Saber Interactive is assuring fans about its potential quality.
- According to the studio's Chief Creative Officer, the upcoming sequel will prove to be quite a satisfying experience.
- The second Space Marine title has a lot riding on its shoulders, as it has more than just Warhammer 40K fans to please.
With just over a week to go before Space Marine 2 swoops in and continues the adventures of Captain Demetrian Titus after more than a decade, developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment have been a lot more vocal about what their upcoming sequel is going to offer its player base.
While the game’s short appearance at Gamescom 2024’s Opening Night Live definitely left a lot to be desired for the fanbase looking forward to getting more updates, the rest of the nearly week-long event brought plenty of new details for fans to bestow their eyes upon as the title gets closer to its launch.
And considering the kind of confidence that the development team seems to have in its next Warhammer 40K video game, perhaps the thirteen-year wait for the second Space Marine installment will actually be quite worth it.
Saber Interactive’s Chief Creative Officer Has a Lot of Faith in Space Marine 2
While Focus Entertainment’s recent silence and beating around the bush responses about some crucial aspects have given rise to worries among the Warhammer 40K community, things are finally starting to take some substantial form with the publisher and Saber Interactive’s latest reveals and updates.
As Focus has surely taken its time to answer queries such as how Space Marine 2 will run on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox, while also not being too quick to share details about what it has planned for the future of the sequel, the Chief Creative Officer at Saber sat down for an interview during this year’s Gamescom to further assure the fanbase.
“We believe we are delivering the true ultimate Space Marine experience,” claimed Tim Willits when asked about how the developer is handling the kind of expectations that come with creating the next installment in such a beloved franchise.
The CCO and his team are well aware of the fact that the Warhammer 40K fanbase wants nothing less than the studio treating “the universe with respect,” which can be a tricky situation to navigate, especially when the 2011 title set the bar so extremely high. “I believe we have a game that will exceed those expectations,” stated Willits, promising an extraordinary time that will deliver on all fronts.
The Developer Aims to Build on Its Own Legacy While Satisfying Warhammer 40K Fans
Saber Interactive has been a major presence in the video game industry ever since the developer made its debut more than two decades ago with Will Rock, but perhaps its most high-profile work has been with 343 Industries on the Halo series.
That kind of track record comes with a certain legacy that needs to be upheld, and the studio’s CCO knows that it is not only Warhammer 40K fans who are looking forward to what Space Marine 2 will be able to accomplish.
“There’s an expectation from fans of the first game, as well as just fans of Saber and action games,” continued Tim Willits, calling the upcoming sequel “a very dense game” considering the quantity of content that will accompany the highly anticipated release.
As the excitement levels from the fanbase keep increasing with each new Space Marine 2 update, the faith that Saber Interactive is showing in its work could be testament to its potential quality, bringing the Warhammer 40K universe to the forefront of the gaming industry after a very long time.
