“There is no market for this”: New Xbox Series X Editions’ Prices Aren’t Doing Microsoft Any Favors
Microsoft has opened the pre-orders for the upcoming Xbox Series X/S consoles, but fans are finding this hardware overpriced and unworthy.
- Gamescom 2024 not only got gaming trailers, but upcoming hardware teasers have also been releasing during this event.
- Microsoft has teased the newest editions of the Xbox Series X and S, which will officially release in October.
- While this should be exciting news, Xbox gamers reacted differently as soon as they got to know about the prices of these consoles.
Xbox is not currently in a favorable position. After several miserable announcements Microsoft has made, Xbox fans are not quite happy with the console, and once again, this dissatisfaction was reflected after Microsoft announced the release of three new Xbox Series X/S consoles launching in October 2024. Especially, the price range mostly made them uninterested in these new editions.
It’s already Gamescom 2024, where all the developer companies are showing off their upcoming games and expansions. Of course, several Xbox games have also been teased in the last few days, but Microsoft didn’t miss the chance to announce the release of the upcoming console editions as well.
Xbox Series X/S Are Getting New Console Editions With Increased Space and High Price
The three new Xbox series consoles, namely, the Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition, the Xbox Series X 1TB Digital White Edition, and the Xbox Series S 1TB White Edition, were announced back in June, but Microsoft has coincided their pre-order time with Gamescom 2024.
Players can start pre-ordering these three editions already, but they will get them after the official release of these consoles in October. Additionally, Microsoft has confirmed that these consoles will be available in all the current Xbox hardware-supported regions. So, there’s nothing to worry about when pre-ordering them.
Though these new editions are not offering better performance, they are bringing a lot more storage to keep all your favorite games and apps without any worry. Therefore, these consoles coming in October make sense.
October seems to be the busiest month for gamers, as multiple renowned gaming titles will be released throughout the month, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. So, more storage is required.
Up until the increased space, it was all right, but things started going wrong when the prices of these consoles were revealed.
New Xbox Editions’ Prices Seem Unreasonable to Players
Extra space is definitely a required feature that everyone loves to get on their consoles, but the issue with the latest Xbox consoles is the price. The 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition will cost players £549.99, and the 1TB Digital White Edition costs £429.99. Finally, the Xbox Series S 1TB White Edition is still affordable at £299.99.
Naturally, Xbox fans are not at all happy with these prices. Players who already have Xbox Series consoles revealed there’s no market for these new ones.
Some players even mentioned that these prices are too high to purchase a console.
Even players expressed that spending almost $600 for an Xbox console is nothing but a stupid idea.
It is pretty clear that gamers are not happy with the prices, no matter what the consoles are offering. So, it seems hard for Microsoft to capture the market with these upcoming editions.
Aside from that, Microsoft is ready to bring another widely popular Xbox exclusive title to the PlayStation 5 in 2025.
