Call of Duty 1 and 5 Other Games in Need of a Remake
Classic games should get a chance to relive in the modern gaming world and regain popularity.
Remakes and remasters are the new trends in the modern world. From movies to games, there’s a remake trend going on. While it feels great to have fresh installments, sometimes getting a remake version of a classic game also gives pleasure. Though making a good remake of a classic video game takes a lot of effort, it is still the best way to enable new players to enjoy some of the best video game experiences.
In the vast gaming universe, hardware used to be limited. Therefore, classic games that were released decades ago didn’t show their full potential. Considering player demand, Nintendo and PlayStation have been remaking a lot of old games for their newer consoles, but there are multiple remaining. Below, we have created a list of the top classics that need remakes.
6. Final Fantasy VI
Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series is one of the most renowned gaming series with multiple titles to experience. However, this franchise has a trend of making remakes and remastered versions of its most popular installments. Even Final Fantasy VII Remake was released in 2020. After this, fans have already started asking for the remake version of another classic installment, Final Fantasy VI.

Initially, the developer team was silent about this matter, but in January 2024, Yoshinori Kitase, the game’s director, revealed that even if they plan to make the remake version of Final Fantasy VI, it will take around 20 years. Therefore, this much-demanded remake may not come soon.
5. Call of Duty
Going forward, we can’t miss another renowned gaming franchise with multiple installments and millions of active players. Activision’s defining gaming series, Call of Duty, has been going through decades and has a few remastered versions as well. But the introductory game of the series, Call of Duty, never received a remastered version.
Players have been asking for this game’s remastered version for a long time, and a few years back there was a rumor about Activision planning to bring a remastered version of the introductory game of the franchise, but nothing happened. This game has set the base for the franchise, so newcomers to the series should get a chance to experience the original Call of Duty.
4. Metal Gear
Metal Gear is the game that introduced Konami and Hideo Kojima’s unique and creative storyline that the later installments take forward. Released in 1987, this game has created a fanbase even with its limited access to hardware. However, since then, the franchise has had loads of fresh entries and several remakes to play, but players still miss the original game.
None of the current-gen consoles support the base game. Therefore, players never get a chance to experience the origin of the series. This game deserves a remake edition, but currently, there’s no update on Konami’s plans for it.
3. Devil May Cry
Making a remake list without including Devil May Cry won’t do justice to it. Released in 2001, this franchise has become one of the most popular Capcom series, besides Resident Evil. Over the years, this game has received multiple installments, including mobile versions, but Capcom never thought of bringing the base game to current-gen players with a remake.
Though the base game set the story in motion, newcomers are deprived of experiencing the beginning of demon hunter Dante’s journey. This game needs a remake to allow everyone to enjoy the beginning of the series, but Capcom never stated any news of working on it.
2. BioShock
2K’s BioShock series is one of the most renowned retrofuturistic video game series, with several successful installments. Starting in 2007, this series has given players amazing gaming experiences, but until now, 2K has never released a remake of any of the BioShock entries.

When BioShock was released, it was available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Therefore, players with the current edition of consoles never get the chance to properly experience the original game.
1. Silent Hill
Silent Hill is one of those games that defines the survival horror genre. Released in 1999, this game has set the path for further installments, and the series has launched multiple successful entries. However, except for Silent Hill 2, none of these entries ever received a remake version.
The original game of the series was released on the first-generation PlayStation console, without any upgraded version available on the later PlayStation editions. Therefore, a large number of players have never experienced the base game of the series, but they should get the chance to understand where the journey began.
These are not the only games for which a remake version needs to be released. There are several more classic games that should get a remake to relive in the modern gaming world.
