“Sign me tf up”: Mortal Kombat 1’s DLC Will at the Minimum Give Us Some Incredible Maps to Play
Khaos may just be the most beautiful thing in Mortal Kombat 1 if these screenshots from the trailer are any indication.
NetherRealm Studios has given Mortal Kombat 1 fans quite the surprise with its new Khaos Reigns story DLC for the main game. Following the defeat of Shang Tsung in his bid to bring the multiverse under his control, it seems that the series now has a new antagonist for Fire God Liu Kang and his followers to contend with.
Promising a lot of fast-paced action along with new takes on returning characters, Ed Boon has once again demonstrated his ability to create fighting games that can truly push a player’s limits in terms of what they can achieve with the tools they have been given. And a few players seem to think that his expertise has extended to his own studio as well.
Havik Brings Mortal Kombat 1 Back to Life
With Havik all set to take the stage as the expansion’s main antagonist, the trailer also gave us a look at interesting versions of the Lin Kuei cyborgs who seem to have some sort of beef with Scorpion. And with Bi Han’s Noob Saibot making an appearance alongside several popular characters from other franchises, the expansion is sure to bring brutal action and an explosive new story to play through.
At the very least, Mortal Kombat 1 players can expect some gorgeous new arenas courtesy of Havik’s new world of chaos, with many players taking to Reddit to showcase some incredible designs taken straight from the trailer. The environment has always played an important part of the action since Injustice: Gods Among Us, and it will be interesting to see how NetherRealm has built Havik’s world of chaos for current-gen consoles.
Chaos Is the New Normal for Liu Kang and Company
With the new trailer’s launch, Mortal Kombat 1 fans do not have too long to wait to get their hands on the expansion when it launches in September. Until then, players will have to be content with admiring the scenery from the trailer, as they eagerly wait to play as their favorite characters, both new and returning.
The Reddit post below – and its responses – are a testament to NetherRealm’s great work in creating an excellent representation of Chaosrealm, Havik’s home and a potential location of interest for the game’s main heroes in their quest to stop him.
Many players are awestruck by the new location, expressing their eagerness to get fighting in it as soon as they can.
Others are delighted to see a nuanced take on Havik, who has been a constant presence in the Mortal Kombat universe since his appearance in Deception.
Another eagle-eyed fan has seemingly spotted a character who did not receive much attention in the trailer but may nevertheless make their presence felt in the new story.
With NetherRealm expertly raising the hype around the new expansion with character announcements and a few freebies, Khaos Reigns is all set to raise the stakes for Earthrealm’s new status quo and test Liu Kang’s capabilities in his new role to their limits this September.
