“Enough is enough”: EA Sports FC 25 Breaks Electronic Arts’ Recently Building Momentum
Community reaction to the reveal has been less than ideal.
This week has been a rollercoaster ride for Electronic Arts fans, as just before the announcement of EA Sports FC 25, the studio was actually finding its way back into the player base’s good books with a massive return to a franchise that could have gotten lost in time.
It has not even been a whole year since the developer rebranded its iconic FIFA series and launched EA Sports FC 24 as a seamless continuation, but with the next installment already revealed, the community sentiment is that Electronic Arts is back to its usual practices once again. Even with a couple of months to go before the upcoming EA Sports FC entry hits the shelves, the first impressions have failed to keep the studio’s momentum up.
Electronic Arts Announces EA Sports FC 25 to Lukewarm Reception
Earlier today, Electronic Arts revealed the next installment in its FIFA-rebranded EA Sports FC series, as the football game can now be pre-ordered ahead of its official release on September 27.
Accompanied by a cinematic trailer created using Frostbite Engine, the two-minute footage showcases a dramatic encounter between Manchester City, which took center stage in EA Sports FC 24, and Real Madrid, whose midfielder Jude Bellingham has taken over as the game’s cover athlete this year.
Although no gameplay was shown, Electronic Arts is introducing a brand new 5v5 Rush mode in EA Sports FC 25, which aims to make matches feel more personal and intense than a regular game of football.
Aside from that, players who preorder the title before August 20 can get their hands on limited-time in-game rewards for the Ultimate Team mode. The addition of FC IQ for more controlled tactical gameplay all across the team may also be interesting, but there is not much else that is making fans look forward to a new EA Sports FC installment this early.
Fans Are Finding It Hard to Get Excited for the Next EA Sports FC Title
Even before EA Sports FC came into being and was called FIFA, Electronic Arts used to face a lot of criticism for releasing very similar games every single year, and it seems like the rebranding has not done much to change player sentiment.

Knowing the developer’s previous track record, the EA Sports FC series getting new installments on an annual basis does not come as a big surprise, but members of the community are starting to get frustrated with the studio’s tradition.
A major argument by players seems to be that maybe EA Sports FC 25 did not need to exist and minor updates like the Rush mode could have been added to the previous installment instead of creating a whole new game; as for now, it all seems quite repetitive.
While Electronic Arts is enjoying a massive triumph over at the EA Sports College Football 25 front, perhaps the company needs to reevaluate its yearly release strategy.
The studio’s recent success at college football has proven that people will be more than happy to return to a series if it actually takes its time and lets the previous installment breathe.
For now, with momentum finally building for Electronic Arts due to NCAA Football’s grand comeback, it seems to have been stopped in its tracks by EA Sports FC 25.
