“Whens the port?”: New Palworld Partnership All but Guarantees the Game on PS5
Pokémon could actually witness some legit competition.
A few weeks after 2024 kicked off, Palworld took the gaming world by storm despite launching in its Early Access form, changing the trajectory for the rest of the year’s video games with its debut. Although not without its own set of controversies, including alleged plagiarism from another massive franchise, Pocketpair’s video game quickly proved that it was much more than just the “Pokémon With Guns” label that had been following it even before release.
However, while Xbox and PC players have been enjoying the time of their lives in the vibrant monster-taming title, the PlayStation community still has not had a chance to play the game, which seems to be changing very soon.
Pocketpair Teams up With Sony to Create Palworld Entertainment
Palworld may have started off as a relatively smaller indie title, but its significant contributions to the course of the gaming industry this year have been undeniable.
While it may have seemed like Pocketpair was not really cashing in on the success of its smash hit over the course of the last few months after the game’s launch, a new announcement has revealed that the studio has been planning to turn its title into a much bigger experience. Teaming up with Sony Music and Aniplex to create a joint venture called Palworld Entertainment, the publisher is aiming “to expand and develop new businesses associated with the hit game.”
Becoming as huge as something like Pokémon is not exactly an easy feat, but Palworld definitely has the potential to become more than just a small indie video game. That is where Sony comes into play, as the newly announced joint venture “will be responsible for developing the reach of the intellectual property and for expanding commercial business endeavors.”
As Nintendo keeps its own monster-taming franchise exclusive to its platforms, the PlayStation parent company seems to be heading down a similar path, as Palworld Entertainment will also be accelerating “the global licensing and merchandising activities associated with” the title.
A PS5 Release for the Monster-Taming Game Could Be Very Close
Not many other details have been announced about the Palworld Entertainment initiative, reigniting the conversation about what it means for the PlayStation 5 port of the game.
According to an article by Japanese publication Famitsu, it looks like merchandising will not be the only aspect that Sony will be focusing on, as the company may also play a major role in the future development of the game itself.

That might suggest that Palworld could be making its way to the PS5 very soon, possibly even launching on Sony’s console in the upcoming months.
For now, fans can look forward to the first official move by the joint venture, as it will be debuting “exclusive merchandise” at Bilibili World 2024, which is scheduled to begin later this week on Friday, July 12 in Shanghai, China.
It felt like Palworld quickly lost steam after just a few months of release, but with an amazing new update and the partnership with Sony, Pocketpair is making sure that the IP keeps going for years to come.
