2023 was an outstanding year for the gaming enthusiasts. This year, players have received some of the most thrilling experiences through their virtual adventures. While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 took them to intense battlegrounds, Hogwarts Legacy transported them to the magical world of Hogwarts that almost everyone fantasized about as kids. Later this year, Alan Wake 2 took them to a scary in-game world with frequent jumpscares. The list won’t end if we start discussing the thrilling experiences the developers have provided us this season. However, we also have received several underrated games that contain great story and gameplay but are lost in the crowd of the big releases.

As the year has almost ended, if you have played almost all the big renowned titles and are looking for the experiences that you have missed, go through the list we have prepared. Maybe you’ll find your next favorite title among them.

8. Atomic Heart

underrated games

Atomic Heart was released earlier this year in February. Though the excitement among the players was unbelievable before its release, somehow this game couldn’t fulfill their expectations. Set in a sci-fi world this game takes players to a research center experience where players need to fight mechanical, biomechanical, biological, and airborne enemies to make their way to the climax.

The graphics and the gameplay are great but of course, the game is a bit complicated. But if you are looking for a thrilling first-person shooter experience, this game is a must-have recommendation. Players can get it on any platform they want.

7. TCHIA

underrated games

If you are an action-adventure game fan but want to enjoy stories rather than fighting enemies, Tchia is a great game you can try. This is the story of the titular protagonist Tchia, who is set on an adventure on an alien island to search for her father’s kidnapper. Of course, the game has multiple enemies to take down as players progress, but they can also enjoy the story and the graphics of the game.

Though this game has almost everything required for success, it somehow didn’t receive the success it should have gotten. To give a unique touch, the developers have introduced elements from Rhythm games to Tchia. But nothing worked for it. However, we recommend you should at least try playing this game once.

6. Party Animals

underrated games

Another underrated experience that you shouldn’t miss this year. Party Animals is one of the most relaxing games you can try. Recreate games have managed to create the cutest animal avatars in this game, including puppies, kittens, ducks, bunnies, sharks, dinosaurs, and even unicorns. While these animals can jump, toss, and hit each other, they can use weapons for fights. With more than 20 maps and 3 modes to enjoy the game fully, it can be a great experience that you shouldn’t miss.

However, one thing that players should remember is that this experience is only for the PC and Xbox X players.

5. Lies of P

underrated games

Lies of P is a dark soul game played from a third-person perspective. In this game, players play as the humanoid Pinocchio and travel through the city of Krat. While exploring the city, they have to fight various biomechanical enemies. Though this action-adventure game gives you an outstanding experience, it somehow couldn’t get enough success. But if you are a fan of action-adventure games, we suggest not missing this game. Players can get this game on every platform.

4. Blasphemous 2

underrated games

This is another underrated game of 2023. This game differs from other games as it is a side-scrolling Metroidvania game. If you are a video game enthusiast, you probably remember that this game has a prequel Blasphemous, released in 2019. This game requires players to control a silent knight who must set out on an adventure to prevent the rebirth of a curse named “The Miracle.” The gameplay is thrilling and has challenging fights. If you are looking for a new adventure, try this game out during the holidays. Players can get this game on every platform, including Nintendo Switch.

3. Dredge

underrated games

Dredge is a fishing video game released in March 2023. Here players will control a small motorized fishing boat and sails to the coastal town of Greater Marrow. This game is mostly centered around the sea and the sea creatures. As this game has a day-night cycle, players will soon notice a few strange things at night: a mysterious mist that appears suddenly out of nowhere, ghost ships, and sea monsters. Fighting and solving these mysteries will be everything you must do in the game, but the climax is the real attraction of this game. If you want to try something new, don’t think twice and jump into the sea of Greater Marrow.

2. House Flipper 2

underrated games

If you enjoy playing simulation games, House Flipper 2 is a game that you shouldn’t miss. It is the sequel to the 2018 game House Flipper and allows you to clean houses, and change decors to prepare them as your clients want them to be. They will receive emails containing these tasks. If you are looking for a relaxing gaming experience, this is the one for you. However, this experience is only for the PC players.

1. Hi-Fi Rush

underrated games

Released in January 2023, this game has taken players to a world full of music and rhythm. This is the story of Chai and his friends, but the unique part is that here all the characters, including the enemies, move to the rhythm and beat of the environment. Though, it was a hit when it was released, soon the excitement went down. However, PC players and Xbox players can once again start their rhythmic journey with Chai and company.

These are the most underrated games of 2023 that we think you shouldn’t miss. But there are a lot more games that one should try at least once.
