SUMMARY
  • GTA has been running with multiple world records in possession.
  • While some of these games are holding places for fastest completion, others are for different reasons.
  • These records are tough, but can be broken if one wants to create a new one.

Grand Theft Auto, or GTA, is one of the biggest gaming franchises that has been entertaining players for decades with multiple new installments. From its storyline to its characterization, Rockstar has excelled in everything when it comes to Grand Theft Auto games.

Over the years, GTA games have broken multiple records. Sometimes, the franchise has reached new heights for sales and revenue; sometimes, players have created records that no one has ever thought of attempting. Some of these world records are listed below that players can try to overcome if they want a new achievement for themselves other than the in-game ones while playing GTA

1. GTA: San Andreas Holds A Record of Fastest Completion

Completing a GTA game isn’t always a piece of cake. These games are challenging, and sometimes completing missions even eliminates players within minutes. Therefore, survival is the real challenge here, as all the time, players need to run away from the police.

However, the fastest Any% completion of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was still a record that no one has ever broken. A hardcore player named ‘Ielreset’ completed this run in 3 hours, 52 minutes, and 7 seconds on 11 March 2020.

2. GTA 3 Became the Fastest Single-Segment Completion

Grand Theft Auto 3 has earned multiple titles throughout these years. Players have ground this game multiple times over the decades, and one of them has created a speed-running record that made its entry in the Guinness Book of World Records.

On 13 January 2014, a player named ‘EIDGOD’ created a record by completing the game in a single playthrough, using speedrun in 1 hour 11 minutes 57 seconds. This record is still untouched as it’s almost impossible to reach.

3. GTA 3 Holds the Record of Fastest Completion

From the very beginning, gamers grind GTA games to make some records, and often they succeeded. If you have experience playing Grand Theft Auto games, you are aware that achieving 100% completion is not a matter of a joke. Surprisingly, GTA 3 holds a record in that.

A player from the United States, named John “Silmaranza” Breedon, created this record when he completed the game 100% in just 6 hours and 32 minutes on 10 April 2011. This is unbelievable considering he left no mission unplayed.

4. Grand Theft Auto 5 Holds the Classic% Run Completion Record

GTA players are always ready to do some crazy things. Since GTA 5 was released, this craziness reached a new height. If you are a GTA player, you are aware of the Classic%, which is basically an Any% run with no mission skips or taxi-based fast travel. Most importantly, these runs require players to go for the Third Ending, which is time-consuming.

When it comes to GTA 5, this record is still unbroken. Despite we are unsure who did it, the record is 5 hours 42 minutes 31 seconds, which was achieved by someone from Poland in 2023.

5. GTA Series Holds the Marathon Gameplay Record

Grand Theft Auto experiences are often so intense that players want them to be continued for a long time, but that’s not the case most times. However, players are often so stubborn that it is hard to avoid them. One such example was Jeff Cork, a US resident.

This GTA enthusiast played GTA 4 for 50 straight hours. The session started on August 6, 2011, and ended on August 8, 2011. This marathon record is highly unlikely to be broken anytime soon.

6. GTA 4 Holds Longest Survival Record

Often survival in GTA games becomes hard. The case sequences are especially difficult to tackle, but hard-core gamers don’t give up on things easily. Often they make ways to survive. A similar record is held by Henrik Lindholm. Escaping from police, federal agents, and even a helicopter gunship, this player managed to survive GTA 4’s 6-star wanted level for a straight 16 minutes and 16 seconds.

This is a world record that is not going to be broken easily. This world record is still intact, even after these years.

7. GTA 4 Has the Tallest Structure

If you are a hardcore GTA fan, it goes without saying that the game features loads of tall buildings throughout the maps. However, GTA 4 holds the Guinness record for one such building, which is 1,472 ft high. Yeah, that’s the Rotterdam Tower in Grand Theft Auto IV.

This building holds a world record for the tallest manmade structure in the entire GTA franchise, and after that, no other GTA game has ever reached this height with a manmade structure.

These are some of the records that GTA games still hold, and if you are a die-hard Grand Theft Auto fan, there’s a great chance that you can try surpassing these players to create a new world record.
