5 New Rules in Roblox You Must Know If You Have Been Playing the Game for a Long Time
Roblox has made its rules stronger for players, especially for those who are under 13 years old and playing games on the platform.
- Roblox games are open to everyone, irrespective of their age.
- However, recently, Roblox has made strict policies to maintain the safety of kids.
- A set of new rules will be applicable in 2025.
Roblox is one of the most popular gaming platforms across the world. While the range of games it offers is surprisingly varied, the primary reason behind Roblox’s enormous popularity is that it is the biggest free-to-play gaming platform that players can access anytime and anywhere. Another reason that has earned it massive popularity is that a significant amount of Roblox games are suitable for children.
No matter what, when children get exposed to gaming, there should be some control, so that they are not exposed to something inappropriate. Therefore, from the very beginning, there are some strict rules imposed on Roblox gaming, and again, these rules recently got stricter for all the gamers who play games on this free-to-play platform.
Below we have listed the new rules that the authority has mentioned to be added to Roblox gaming. Though every player should be aware of these rules, these are mainly brought to ensure the safety of children below 13 years:
1. Unrated Experiences Will Be Blocked
Roblox is a heaven for anime fans. Multiple anime-based games on this platform are so well-made that they are even ready to compete with renewed games on other platforms. A lot of these experiences are designed for kids, but still, the risk factor can’t be eliminated.
Currently, kids can search and play games on the platform that don’t have any age limit mentioned. To ensure safety further, the authority is restricting this part. Starting in 2025, kids under 13 years old won’t be able to search for and play games that don’t mention an appropriate age to play them.
For example, if a game experience is not rated as “10+” or “13+,” kids below these age limits won’t be able to access those games.
2. Kids Won’t Be Able to Take On All the Roles
When Roblox is stricting the rules, it’s not stopping here. It’s not that kids can play all the games that have suitable experience ratings; there are still things that they can’t access on the platform. Among them, the first is that players can’t access all the role-playing games. They can only access games that have the roles of teachers, police, professors, etc. Precisely, no game with any negative or illegal role can be played by kids.
Additionally, this free-to-play platform is restricting kids from playing all the 3D games. They can access only those games that will allow them to unleash their creativity in building structures or designing characters, cities, etc.
3. Players Under 13 Can’t Message Without Parental Control
Parental control has always been a major part of kids’ Roblox experience. This free-to-play platform further emphasizes this safety measure by preventing users under 13 from directly messaging others without their parent’s permission.
This rule applies equally to games marked safe for children under 9 years of age. Even if the game experience is marked safe, children need to get permission from their parents to message online.
4. Restricting Access to 2D Spaces
Free-form 2D creation spaces are something very common in Roblox. These spaces allow players to write or draw in a shared environment. However, the upcoming guidelines are going to restrict that.
The reason behind that is that sometimes in these shared spaces, kids are exposed to content that isn’t suitable for their age. Sometimes content that is shared there goes beyond Roblox’s control. That’s why the platform authority is trying to eliminate the probability of potential danger by this.
5. Social Hangouts Aren’t Open Anymore
Social hangouts mostly involve free-form interactions and sometimes it goes off the limit. Some reports from participants have mentioned that during these conversations, sometimes kids get exposed to inappropriate language and gestures.
To prevent this, Roblox, therefore, restricts kids below 13 years old from joining social hangouts. This is to ensure the safety of the younger players from learning bad things.
These are some of the new changes that Roblox is about to bring to make the platform and the games more safe for children. These are mostly for kids, but all the players should know that if they have been playing games on this platform for a long time already.
